Weapons and Artillery of World War II The result of World War II was affected by many different factors. One major factor which affected the war was the weapons and artillery used during the war. Since the beginnings of time, weapons have always been around. From swords and knives to nuclear weapons and missiles, weapons have evolved greatly throughout the years. The weapons and artillery used in World War II basically were evolved types of weaponry that were used during World War I (Military History 1). World War II began in 1939 when the German armies decided to invade parts of Europe, therefore causing Europeans to retaliate against the Germans (World War 1). World War II began because those countries which were defeated in World War I (Germany, Italy, and Japan) were greatly devastated by the loss. Their countries were suffering from economical problems and were also left in bad conditions after World War I. They had lost much territory and now were practically in debt for the damages which they had done during the war (1). These countries figured that the only way for them to get out of economic depression and revive their country was to take land from other countries, which was one of the reasons why the war began. The main countries which were involved in World War II were Germany, Japan, and Italy, which were known as the Axis Coalition, against the United States, the Soviet Union, and many other countries. Overall World War II was seen as the most devastating war in human history. Each country had different types of weaponry and artillery which proved to be vital in the result of the war (World War 1). Many new and improved weapons and artillery were brought out during the war. One example of this introduction of new weapons was the long-range rocket. Also during this time the atomic bomb proved to have a big impact on the war. Along with these new and improved weapons, falls the infamous tanks of World War II (Military History 1). Although some weapons proved to be more important than others, every weapon played an important role in fighting this war. Some of these smaller weapons include pistols and rifles. A majority of weapons used in World War II were improved weapons from World War II. Most guns increased in power and abilities. In World War II people thought that pistols were useless but this was proved wrong due to the fact that the U.S. Mi... ... middle of paper ... ...ilities of the tanks being penetrated were slim. Also there was an addition of an anti-craft gun which made it even more powerful and unstoppable (Slayton 103). The result of World War II had tragic results for Japan, Germany, and also Italy. The United States and the Allies came out victorious once again but the cost of war greatly affected all the countries. Germany, Japan, and Italy now have more debts to pay and also lost much of their territory once again. The war took many lives and also ended up destroying many beautiful cities. World War II showed how not just the soldiers were affected in the war, but everyone in all the different countries were affected by the war. The fact that the result of World War II was affected by the weapons and artillery used throughout shows the importance of weapons and artillery. Without weapons or artillery there is no war. Without money there are no weapons or artillery. Without money there is no need for war because countries have no reason to go to war. World War II began on September 1, 1939. It all started when Hitler wanted to expand his territory, and he had planned to invade Poland on this day. Then two years later in 1941 Japan bombed America in which is known as Pearl Harbor and General Eisenhower entered America into World War II. America then joined the Allied powers and helped fight against the Axis powers. The major countries that took part as the Allied Powers in World War II was the United States of America, Great Britain, France, and Russia.Their main goal was to stick together and to defend each other from the attacks of the Axis Powers. The Axis powers consisted of Germany, Italy, and Japan.General EIsenhower had been planning an attack on the beaches of Normandy in France.
World War 2 started on September 1st, 1939 when Germany invaded Poland. Then shortly after France and the United Kingdom declared war on Germany. More and more countries joined in and took sides; Axis powers or Allied powers. The Axis powers were made up of Germany, Italy, Japan, Hungary, Romania, and Bulgaria. The Allied powers were made up of U.S., Britain, France, USSR, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Denmark, Greece, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, South Africa, and Yugoslavia. This was the biggest war in history because of all the countries involved. Throughout the early parts of the war, Germany was very successful. As the Germans took over countries in Europe, through the use of the German Blitzkrieg. Blitzkrieg was a type of war were the attacking side would strike very quick. Then by using blitzkrieg it made the Germans and the Axis powers very powerful. As the Germans became more powerful, it made the Allied countries form together to take down the Germans before Germany had absolute power over Europe. Hitler was the leader of Germany and he had in mind of taking over as many countries as possible to achieve the status of ruler of the...
World War II started with the rise of three dictators: Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini and Hideki Tojo. These three dictators came in for Germany, Italy and Japan, because they were having a bad time because of the damages that were caused in World War I. People in these countries didn´t have any money, were starving and they wanted someone to make the country rich again. Then the dictators came and said they would bring glory to their country. By saying that, people started voting on them and then they started rising to power. Those three dictators made an alliance called the Axis Powers. The war started when the German forces invaded Poland in 1939, after doing this the whole world noticed and started joining the war, and then another power was formed, that was the Allied Powers, which was composed of Great Britain, France and other countries.
World War II killed more people, destroyed more property, disrupted more lives, and probably had more far-reaching consequences than any other war in history. It brought about the downfall of Western Europe as the center of world power and led to the rise of the Soviet Union. The exact number of people killed because of the war will never be known. Many nations came together to form the Axis. As they’re opposite the Allies totaled fifty nations by the end of the war. The early stages of the war are what got the attention of the U.S. Although, the U.S. was set on being on the sidelines of this war, Pearl Harbor was the deciding factor for her entry. The consequences of the war involved numerous deaths and even more power struggles after the war had ended. All together, World War II was a far-reaching, extremely destructive war that changed the world and its super-powers forever.
... made Germany very effective. Now with tanks and planes being lighter and more mobile militaries were able to mobilize vast amounts of soldiers to areas needed and provide them with constant air support. Also, radar made military leaders re-think the idea of a straight on attack. Instead of coming right at an opposing force leaders of militaries started to go around their targets and attempt to sneak attack them as Japan did at Pearl Harbor and Germany when it took over France.
Without tanks, it is doubtful that War World 2 would have been fought in such a short time. Tanks critically shaped the outcome of the war. Before
The causes of the Second World War truly are numerous. There were several steps to war, and according to various sources, most were associated with Germany. Hitler’s first attempt to gain worldly power was to rearm Germany. The German rearmament began after Hitler left the 1932-34 Geneva Disarmament Conference, where it was decided as a unanimous British option, that all nations should “disarm to the German level, as a first step to total disarmament.” By 1935, rearmament was well underway. This involved conscription and munitions factories. Rearmament alarmed the French, w...
From concentration camps to Japan bombing Pearl Harbor the effect of WWII has drastically changed the world. The beginning of the second world war was similar to the first world war. The reason for the war is because germany wanted revenge for its country losing money in WWI , also it was land opportunities for Germany and the Communist gove...
During the war, cavalry was the main offensive weapons, but new weapons was in design, the tank, a heavy armoured fighting vehicle carrying guns and moving on a continuous articulated metal track. The first tank ever built was called the little Willie it consisted of a Foster-Daimler Knight sleeve valve petrol 105 hp (78 kW), and a Vickers 2-pounder gun and multiple machine guns. This prototype proved faulty but effective as it was able to push through enemy lines, but since it was not very long and speed wise of only 2 mph, it was only able to cross trenches shorter than 1.5
Though World War II was a terrible, deadly war, a lot of good things came from it. The ideas and innovations from the war have caused us to live in a high technology world today. Without the creations of World War II we might not be where we are as a society. Medicine has further developed as well as our air crafts and jet engines that allow us to further explore and examine outer space and learn more about the world. All of these ideas and innovations certainly prove that World War II was the most high tech war of the time, and a lot of the things that came from the war help us today in some way.
In the war between countries, technology has played a huge part in the outcome; this is especially evident during the time of World War II. Technology in warfare consisted of weapons, vehicles, aircrafts, and chemical reactants. Technology during World War I was lacking and countries knew when World War II began that in order for them to be victorious they must have the most technologically advanced weapons and other devices or systems that would benefit the nation. The Allies were victorious in WW2 because they made better use of the available technologies than the Germans, advancing in communication/detection systems such as sonar and the radio, as well as, weapons including the atomic bomb, and bomber aircrafts.
World War II was one of the most deadly wars we know in history, having as many as sixty million casualties, most of whom were civilians. It impacted a lot of countries, almost all the world, which is why the name is given. This war impacted many countries in the world, and damaged almost all of the countries involved greatly. It also led to the downfall of Western European countries as world powers, leaving it to the Soviet Union, and the United States. The war started in 1939 and ended in 1945, with the invasion of Poland and the Axis surrender, respectively. It changed the economy and the growth of big countries, including Germany, Great Britain, United States, Japan, Russia and France. Aside from this, Jews were greatly influenced too. They were damaged, but then gifted.
Many events caused the outbreak of W.W.II, American involvement in W.W.II, and the ending of the war. Nevertheless, there are some events that were more influential in bringing about the start of World War II than others, some events that were more influential in bringing about the United States' involvement in the war than others, and some events were more decisive in the ending of W.W.II. In any case, however, the eighteen events aforementioned events were all immensely significant in their various ways.
WW2 completely changed the world in many ways, one aspect of WW2 that really interested me is all the new technology that was made. It completely shaped and began the technological world we live in now. Due to the fact that the stakes were incredibly high during, everybody was working hard and fast to try to get ahead in the game of having the most power and advanced technology.
World War II was a global war, which lasted from 1939-1945, it was also known as the Second World War. World War II started when Germany invaded Poland. By November 1942, the Axis powers controlled territory from Norway to North Africa and from France to the Soviet Union. As time goes by, World War 2, which was the largest, deadliest, most dramatic event in human history, shifts from living memory to write history, and knowledge of it becomes less obvious, including millions of civilians who were systematically mass-murdered.
