During the “Roaring Twenties” America was booming and just accepting everyone into the country oblivious to the divergent future they were letting themselves into. When the United States government was building itself up to becoming the superpower that it wanted to be it was negligent to what the American citizens actually wanted, and unaware of what the passed laws actually prohibited, and overall never really made a difference in the 20th century. Looking at nearly any point in history and see people moving from their home to another one because they see a good opportunity for themselves. The people that are immigrants, have different reasons for doing what they are doing but in reality a majority of the person 's are doing it to make a better life for their family. It is not their first choice but it may be the last one that they can make given their hard circumstances. The United States of America in the late 1910’s and through a portion of the 1920’s were working uncontrollably successfully. It was truly the land of opportunity. Everyone wanted to come here and get some of the cake. Everyone was coming to our nation and not in little numbers, people were flocking into the country in massive numbers looking for work. About 25 million immigrants came to this country in a 40 year span (Daniels). Of course a lot of positives came out of this time period from the new faces brought in with cultural expansions and racial diversity. Now that the country was attacked from the outside anyone that comes into the country is going to be under heavy scrutiny until they are deemed as safe. That is really the only way that people can come to The United States anymore. After the events of 9/11 the government is not going to take anymore chances. All of the new people coming in are going to study so that they would not be a threat to our national security. President George W. Bush signed into place the U.S.A P.A.T.R.I.O.T Act to make a solid change for the first time in America history regarding just who was going to come into this country. The Patriot Act was put in place in 2001 and meant to infiltrate the lives of Americans because according to the government they could no longer be trusted. The U.S.A P.A.T.R.I.O.T Act acronym is Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism (The USA PATRIOT Act). For once the United States finally made a big impact on immigration in the United States, the way that they did it however was not appreciated by all immigrants, of course and it was actually not totally favorable by the American citizens as well. The right of privacy was suddenly overshadowed by the right of protection. In the 21st century now only 10% of all immigrants
