We Must Prevent Climate Change

The natural environment of the planet Earth has negatively been compromised over time due to the existence of human beings. In his 2006 documentary titled "An Inconvenient Truth", Al Gore stated "The voluminous evidence now strongly suggest that unless we act boldly and quickly to deal with the underlying causes of global warming, our world will undergo a string of terrible catastrophes". Water pollution and global climate change have already caused terrifying levels of damage to the environment and people alike. In order to be able to recover from the current environmental situations that humans face, the global world community must unite and work as one.
For instance, water pollution is a very serious issue that currently affects the planet. According to author and photographer Jared Skye, the affects of water pollution are not always immediately noticed at the source (2013). However, at some point in time, the negative repercussions of water pollution can be seen on a global scale (Skye, 2013). Dr. Ken Rubin of the University of Hawaii stated that there are two main sources of water pollution; direct and indirect. Direct water pollution can often be sourced back to factories and waste treatment plants (Rubin, n.d.). On the other hand, indirect water pollution occurs as a result of rain water carrying atmospheric contaminants that wash away soil into waterways. The soil can contain human made contaminants such as pesticides, and other harsh chemicals as well (Rubin, n.d.). As a result of water pollution, ecosystems can see drastic negative changes. Occasionally pollutants raise the temperature of the water in certain areas, which drives many species of fish out. This leaves something called an "ecological dead zone" (Skye, 201...
