WBL’s whole goal is meaningful learning (Cox, 2017). To make learning meaningful there are phases that students must pass through; relaxed alertness, orchestrated immersion and active process. Each of these phases are implemented in the whole brain teaching method. The Hermann Whole Brain Teaching Method states that our education systems meet the students’ needs emotionally, physically, socially and academically (Bawaneh, 2012). These needs or whole brain learning goals are met when the students pass through each phase. The whole brain learning strategy does not focus on assessments, but rather is focused on the question “what should my students get out of this?” (Tipton, 2015). For instance, one study showed
