According to statistic provided with Council for Anti-Trafficking Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants (MAPO), 118 cases of child kidnapping were reported on February 2008 and 0ctober 2010 in Malaysia. This report shown that child kidnapping had widespread. Parents should always play their role and implement some ways to keep the children’s safety. There is three ways to minimize the risk of child kidnapping, which is educate their children stay away from strangers (Zuraneeza Zulkifli, 2013; Murphy,2014; Johnston, J.R,2001) ; educate their children to protect themselves (Canadian Centre for Child Protection,2011; Georgia K. Hilgeman,1999; Murphy,2014) ; and enrol self-defends class (Andrea K Clark,2013) and choose caregivers who can put trust (Janet R. Johnston et al, 2011)
Current issues bring the facts that living today is much more dangerous than years ago. Even we are more awareness than before, but sometimes, we cannot avoid things to being happened. By the way, missing child can be grouped into two categories, which are kidnapping and disappearance under worry situation. According to the statistic from Cyber Travel Tips, most of the missing children’s cases are handled by court and death. According to the Malaysian Digest, there are five horrible cases of kidnapping and abuse since 2007. Nurin Jazzlin (August 20, 2007), 8 years old girl who went missing after went to the night market alone. Nurin’s body was found in a sports bag after a month. Her body was sexually assaulted and brutally murdered when found her dead body (Lai, 2013). Also, children are more likely to be abducted by someone they know rather than someone they do not know. According to Jackson (2007), young children are likely to be abducted by someone they know because they are less likely to resist or verbally protest (p.523). Children are the last line of defense for abduction; however, children who are taught refusal skills can help prevent the abduction. Teaching about safety and security is a very important aspect of the program. The article is about a four years old boy who was starved to death by his mother and was left in his cot for two years. She was found accountable for killing him and was given 12 years for killing him and three years for child cruelty, as shown in the (Pidd,2013) newspaper article.
Crime Scenario: This case is about a missing 9 year old boy who lives with his mother, younger sister, and his mother 's boyfriend. The child has been missing for over 24 hours and the boyfriend seems very protective of the mother and answers most of the questions about the disappearance. The scene is overwrought with the media, neighbors, and volunteers offering to help with the search for the missing boy.

Thousands of children are kidnapped each year. However, one of the most famous kidnappings was the Lindbergh Kidnapping in 1932. The kidnapping was called, “The Crime of the Century”. After much hard work, detectives were able to find the kidnapper, Bruno Hauptmann. Evidence of ransom notes, possession of ransom money, and access to tools make Bruno Hauptmann guilty in the Lindbergh Kidnapping.

Awareness of child sexual trafficking can be viewed as a balanced scale, with one side representing the country’s population that is fully informed of the issue, while the other side is either unaware or unattached to the issue. The public needs to have more involvement with this affair based on multiple concerns; first, the act of child sex trafficking itself is a serious crime that violates human rights (Fong & Cardoso, 2010). Second, various negative health repercussion including transmittable sexual diseases, physical damages, mental disturbance, post traumatic stress disorders, and other illnesses plague many victims (Fong & Cardoso, 2010). Third, sexual trafficking is responsible for generating poverty as a result of obstructing economic, and social development (Reid, 2012). Child sex trafficking proves to be a global dilemma affecting numerous countries
According to the United Nations, thousands of people are smuggled across borders worldwide, and it now has reached an estimated 800,000 victims (“Human Trafficking Statistics”). By letting this continue, the numbers will only grow and continue to keep growing. Of the 600,000 to 800,000 men, women, and children who have been trafficked across international borders each year, approximately 80 percent are women and girls (“End of Human Trafficking Now”). The United Nations should be more proactive in both preventing and eliminating human trafficking because 161 out of 192 countries are involved with human trafficking (“Human Trafficking Statistics”) and the leaders of every country need to come together to end this phenomenon.
“Any person who shall unlawfully confine, restrain, or remove any person without consent from one place to another shall be guilty of kidnapping” (N.D., n.d.). Kidnapping is a current issue happening in the United States and the justice system is doing the most it can to apprehend and discipline kidnappers. To commit the act of kidnapping is a serious felony offense that could result in a prison sentence of 20 or more years. Children kidnapped by a stranger is very rare, but when it happens it can be a very horrific event for families and even communities. Back in 1991, 11-year-old Jaycee Dugard was abducted by Philip and Nancy Garrido for 18 years until she had been freed in August 2009. During her time kidnaped she had been frequently raped and impregnated twice which resulted in two daughters. Although Dugard’s case is considered extremely rare, it was a traumatic event that has been noted as one of the top kidnapping cases
The sympathy of the government for mothers such as Khaila, trying to recover their parental rights has worn thin. Child abandonment is a serious offense and the children that suffer from such neglect face many psychological problems; if they are ever able to survive their circumstances. The abandonment and neglect of a child can result in serious criminal charges. One striking example is the case of seven month old Daniel Scott (Should We Take Away Their Kids?). Baby Daniel had been left for hours unattended and died of in a pool of his own blood. His mother, a crack addict left him in the care of his father to go on a six day crack binge. His father in turn, left him in his crib leaving the door of their Bronx tenement unlocked for any danger to afflict his unprotected son (Should We Take Away Their Kids?). The parents were later charged with manslaughter by negligence.
Maryclaire Dale’s article “Kindergarten kidnapper tells girl, ‘I’m not a monster’”, appears in the Bucks County Courier Times and it tells the people of Bucks County how a woman kidnapped a kindergartener from school. In Philadelphia during January of 2013, a girl was taken from her kindergarten classroom and “sexually tortured during a bizarre overnight ordeal.” The girl was an 8-year-old and she had been abducted by “former day care worker Christina Regusters”, who was 22 years old. Christina was sentenced to 40 years to life. The judge called the crime, “a horror show” because the 8-year-old girl was found “shivering under playground equipment” half naked. Christina took full responsibility for what happened and as she was charged with “kidnapping, sexual assault and other charges”
Since the beginning of time, children have be an integral part of our world. They act as the pillars of our society, knowing that the future of the world’s society will one day be in their hands. The rights of children have always been minute compared to the rights that adults have. For many centuries, people failed to recognize that children could fall victim to the abuse of an adults, just like adults can. During the 19th and 20th century, the fight again child labor was in the limelight, but rarely did people think that kids could be victims of physically or sexual abused. As time progressed, the criminal justice system began to identify that children needed to be protected from being a victim of physical and sexual abuse. Today, the court systems have distinctly identified what child abuse is and measure in place in an attempt to identify, prevent and treat abused children. Special teams are established for the sole purpose of investigating these crimes, because working with children demand a different protocol than adults. Interview children demands a special attention, because they are subjected to more trauma than an adult would, due to their developing mind.
Since these articles were written, Sarah Payne has been found murdered close to where she lived. The kidnapper is still at large and the search for him has commenced. Tougher legislation on paedophiles has been discussed as riots broke out. However, nothing affective
The states can establish agencies and organizations to prevent child abuse. This act provides supports and helps, so it can help and support parents and abused children. However, it does not address fundamental problems. Thus, this law can help but cannot remove child abuse. The ways to remove the issue is to address fundamental factors such as poverty, less education, and skills and knowledge of parenting. Also, people who notice child abuse must report. We can easily notice if physical abuses such as violence happen outside. Thus, the physical, sexual, and emotional abuses have been reported more, so we can say that system works well. However, neglects are difficult to find from outside because the home is really closure. For instance, we cannot see that parents do not give any meals. Thus, even though how much people and agencies outside try to address and investigate, it does not direct way to address and prevent the issues. As mentioned above, poverty, isolation and other factors are causes of child abuse, we should address the main causes to truly prevent and remove child abuse. The most adequate countermeasure is to make society with parents with money, time and emotional to spare. In other words, it is important that we make the society which is parents are able to have enough money, time, and healthy
