At any given time in any given weather condition, bodies of water are effortlessly crashing onto the shore. These are known as waves: the waves that people smoothly surf in, the waves that bring in the excess seaweed, and the waves that create a unique movement in the ocean for the people on Earth to observe. However, the meaning of waves is not limited to its literal definition. Waves are the continuous flow of positive and negative attributes. Cycles of positive and negative attributes can be found in nature. In nature, waves can either bring happiness or shame to people walking along breathtaking shorelines. Beaches, one of the most admired geographical features on this planet, are formed by the movement of waves. According to the National Geographic Society, “Over many years, water and wind wear away at the land. The continual action of waves beating against a rocky cliff, for example, may cause some rocks to come loose.” By removing previous cliffs and People often say “just go with the flow”, directly implying for a person to act on impulse. However, going with the flow involves more than acting on instinct. Going with the flow is when one entrusts themselves enough to accept his or her emotions and carry forward. In nature, going with the flow indicates allowing Mother Nature to change the various environments on Earth. Both these ways of going with the flow do not focus on what may happen as a consequence. That is what makes a meaningful life, a wave. Waves move forward regardless of the obstacles that they could possibly encounter. Whether in a job or a relationship, the repeated positive experience and negative experiences create what is known as life. The literal positive and negative experiences can be defined as the ups and downs but the figurative definition of those experiences is a wave. No matter where a person is or what they are doing, they are experiencing the wave of
The tone of the waves is "thunderous and mighty" and the gulls are looked upon as "uncanny and sinister."(Crane391). Furthermore, the crew fears the upcoming danger of the sea, blaming it as the "play of the free sea."(Crane390). Meanwhile, many beautiful colors such as "emerald", "white", and "amber" decorate the sea, another name of nature.(Crane390). What matters here is that the crew 's attention focuses not on the beauty of nature but on the danger they face. In other words, people are likely to interpret natural phenomenon based on their prejudices, thus distorting the features of nature as
...to becoming run-off to the sewer, the wave knows her destiny will eventually return her to the sea because that is the nature of water. Since she escaped the train’s water tank, her life has proven to be cyclical. In this way she is self-serving, which is much more like the true character of water.
For the weekend Camille and Zaxby are taking a trip to Wavestown for a science class they have. Camille and Zaxby and so excited that they get to observe the Electro Magnetic Spectrum. The first thing they notice is a rainbow, Zaxby said “that must be visible light”, Camille agreed. They want to go and look at local stores, Camille points out that since we aren’t feeling we can go to Dr. Bob’s health store that takes x-rays of patients that need it. They think some gammma waves are going off, because clearly the Doctor’s tools need to be cleaned.
This part of photosynthesis takes part in the stroma located in the chloroplast. The Calvin Cycle involves the reduction of carbon dioxide and require hydrogen from NADPH and ATP for energy.
During the Rick Yancey’s novel “The Fifth Wave”, Cassie experienced many changes in her personality. In the beginning, Cassie was just an ordinary highschool student. In life we all go through certain situations that we let our impulses take over. We are humans and we make mistakes and that helps us grow and become better human beings. As we all age, maturity and wisdom is gained through all experiences. We are all required to deal with the realities of the real world and learn how to handle the responsibilities that are given to us. Life is full of various difficulties but it always gets better. The majority of times we don’t like our lives, jobs etc.. All we can do is try to get better and find ways we can change our current life and reach our goals.

The author understands that there are several factors that will or might not interfere with the pursuit of happiness. Into every life, adversity will fall; nobody is immune. every life also will receive its share of happiness. it 's the strategy by which one deals with the inner and external forces that may determine the quantity of joy present in one 's life. The author explains flow to be “the sense of effortless action they feel in moments that stand out as the best in their lives”. When I am with friends and family – the ones that I love, I am engaging in “flow activities” I get involved so deeply in the task that is at hand that there is no recollection of time. It’s as if nothing else really matters because of the happiness that I am feeling within myself. I took a trip with family to Miami last year, it was beautiful. When I was there, I had almost forgot all the day to day issues that I faced, the atmosphere and even the smell consumed me and took me to a place of euphoria. There is a “flow” to Miami that makes you forget everything besides what is happening in that exact moment. When a person can ascend the steps of challenges and skill, they
When we are engaged in "flow" we must be doing something that we enjoy, and as Csikszentmihaly so aptly states, "Allocation of time, presents difficult choices that eventually determine the content and quality of our lives" (146). It is important to note that these activities during "flow" are good only in small amounts; because in large doses can consume our lives and even be harmful. People who do spend large amounts of time on one activity will be consumed by it and not have room for anything else in their lives, so this can actually cause unhappiness. It is important to note that during a "flow" experience people have not been shown to have a increase in happiness, but only after the activity is completed they are in a more positive state. Over time small doses of flow can lead to an overall increase in well-being and happiness over a period of time doing these activities, Csikszentmihaly tells us, " The prerequisite for happiness is the ability to get fully involved in life" (150). From this we are able to learn and focus on building balance, happiness and we must experience everything life has to
After finishing this book, I immediately thought to myself, "finally!" To explain, the book was not a very fun and entertaining read by any means. At times I found myself reading a couple pages just to get myself tired and ready for bed. However I did feel that this book was very educational and brought up some great points and ideas. Written by Debora Spar, a Harvard professor, I found myself struggling through some chapters simply because of the vocabulary and advanced ideas that she proposed. For example, when she explained the four phase model, I found some of that to be a little confusing because I initially had a hard time relating her four phases to today's technologies or industries. It wasn't until I was finished with the book was I able to put it all together and I usually have a hard time understand books like that. All in all, the book is very intelligent, but you can tell that she did not write this for the sake of entertainment. It is a great read for this class, as it is very obvious how her book applies to what we are studying.

Over the course of Japanese history, arguably, no artist is more famous for their works than Katsushika Hokusai. During his 88 years of life, he produced over 30,000 pieces of artwork, and heavily influenced Western styles of art. His most famous piece was created around 1831, a Japanese styled piece titled, The Great Wave off Kanagawa. This piece has stood as a defining piece of artwork in the Japanese culture for over 180 years, analyzed by students and authors for the interpretations filling the paper. The relationship between Hokusai’s painting has directly affected the Western point of view of Japanese style. The English author, Herbert Read’s novel interprets the painting distinctly differently from a Japanese point, American poet,
