Introduction
Today people all across the globe are interested in activities that are exciting and challenging but also relaxing and fun. This reason is exactly why going to the lake has become more popular than ever before. The water is a perfect getaway for almost everyone. Instead of focusing on manufacturing wake boarding and skiing boats they were making sail boats, race boats and power boats. The company was surprisingly successful within its first four years, and had built a very good reputation among the boating industry. The reputation they acquired within those first four years is exactly why they were able to continue to be a growing company during the great depression. Correct Craft remained at the top of the boating industry for years. It wasn’t until the Korean Conflict when the company took a turn for the wors...

During this semester of English 1302, I feel as if this was way more interesting than 1301. In fact, I did learn a lot of new things about gender and how it takes its role in society. I never understood why it would actually matter, but it really does matter.

The water is deep yet dense with seaweed. Tree stumps lay patiently at the bottom of the clear water waiting for kids, who think they’re Jacques Cousteau, to discover with a mask and snorkel. Canoeing is the most exercise you’ll get off Kosoag Lake. To canoe across the entire lake would only take thirty minutes or so. Or one can paddle for a good 10 minutes and reach the only bar within miles of the winding, motor home populated, dead deer ridden roads: Kosoag Lake Inn. And this where it all began, or where it all ended.
It’s hard to believe that back in the early 1980’s people “perceived [snowboarders] as daredevil adolescents who posed a threat to skiers” (Shipley). Though the sport was banned from almost every resort, it grew to be so popular that the resorts could no longer ignore the moneymaking possibilities. Resorts realized that the average young person was abandoning the sport of skiing, and learning the new trend of snowboarding. Not only that, but the younger generation who was taking up a new winter sport would choose snowboarding over skiing. These days, resorts spend thousands of dollars to attract snowboarders to their resorts with claims of the biggest halfpipe or the best board park. But how did this sport explode onto the scene? To answer this question, a brief history is in order.

Thin air encompasses me as I commence the final day of skiing at Vail, Colorado. Seven days of skiing elapse rather painlessly; I fall occasionally but an evening in the Jacuzzi soothes my minor aches. Closing time approaches on the final day of our trip as I prepare myself for the final run of the vacation. Fresh off the ski lift, I coast toward the junction of trails on the unoccupied expert face of the mountain. After a moment of thought, I confidently select a narrow trail so steep that only the entrance can be seen from my viewpoint.
