The laws made people very aware of what would happen if they committed any type of crime. Hammurabi lived in the kingdom of Babylon and Ruled there for 42 years. He wrote a set of 282 laws on a large pillar-like stone. A God, by the name of Shamash, gave Hammurabi the right to write these laws.
