Was McCandless brave? I believe Chris McCandless chose to live freely. Christopher McCandless said, “I’ve decided I’m going to live life for some time to go. The freedom and simple beauty is just too good to pass up.” He didn’t want to live a “twentieth century life.” He found his own happiness by doing something different. He traveled on his own and saw many beautiful places. He also met many wonderful people along the way. He was brave for not caring what people said or thought about him. His bravery was admirable.
