The famous man who created the world wide known Walmart is Sam Walton. Sam was 27 years old when he first started learning about retail, and how stores operated. When Sam was evolving his own store and brand, his goal was to strive for great value and great customer service. He also believed in leadership through service, meaning true direction depends on the willing service on which it was built. But before Walmart, Sam opened up “Walton’s 5&10” on the square in Bentonville. This store pushed him towards success, giving him the drive to do bigger thing. With this new opportunity Sam opened the first Walmart in 1962 in Rogers, Arkansas. Everyone in the retail business thought his idea of offering lower prices and great service would never work. In 2009 the annual meeting for all the Walmart managers took place, they then announced that because things were going so well, 50 billion square feet were going to be added to Walmart’s around the world. Their prediction of sales that year, 300 billion. And at the current time they had 1,200,000 workers. Walmart has been accused of outsourcing jobs to other countries. But in order for Walmart to keep the lowest prices and satisfaction, they have to receive production from other countries in order for it to stay cheaper. They were suspected to get their products from places that have child labor, slave labor, and forced labor.
