Waldorf Gallery: Art Analysis

The piece of art that I chose from the Marvella Bloome Art Exhibition in the Waldorf Gallery is entitled “Love”. I chose this piece because it stood out to me in an emotionally way, along with the perspective and placement of the hands that looked so gentle and warm on the eyes.
I see both straight and curved lines created to outline the hands and to add realistic detail to them, as well as only curved likes added in the design in the background. There are very few colors in this watercolor painting. There are only two hues, purple and gray and intensity in both colors are used in a dull or matte manner. I feel that texture stands out because of how detailed the hands are and how brush strokes and shades create the airy look I discussed previously. I think that color stands out because there were only two colors used, one neutral and one other non-primary. I also think that the different shades used in each part of the painting added more detail and texture to it. So, I feel both of these elements worked hand-in-hand together to stand out and make the painting what it is. I love multiple things about this painting. I am amazed with the detail in the hands and the accents in the background. I like the prospective of the hands and that one is an adult hand and one is a child hand. I like the colors used that give me a gentle and light feeling when looking at it. I do not really think there is anything that I strongly dislike about this piece. This work of art is named “love” and I can feel that when I look at it. I see it as the love between a parent and child. To me, I see the bigger hand as having a sense of strength in the way it is positioned, and interpret that into the strength that a parent has to care for their child. I see the little hand as more helpless and reliant, almost “reaching” to gracefully touch the bigger hand. I think detail and positioning of the hands, the textures in the background, and the color used make this painting have a calm, gentle, delicate feeling to it when you look at
