3. Volpino Italiano
Despite of its small size, this is one of the dog that closely resembles a fox. Volpino Italiano, which originated from Italy, are small Spitz-type dogs that were used as guard dogs. Their job is to warn the large mastiffs that there is an intruder. The breed was almost extinct and was about to be gone in 1965. However, efforts were made to protect the breed and the 5 dogs left from the breed was able to reproduce offsprings. In 2006, it was approximately counted that there are 2000 dogs under this breed which are mostly based in Italy.
4. American Eskimo Dog
The American Eskimo Dog is another Spitz type of dog that looks like a fox. The breed was bought to America in the 1930s from Germany. They are an intelligent, alert and protective breed which were used as circus dogs. They are small or medium-sized dogs that can survive extreme weather conditions like those in the Indian subcontinent. Indian Spitz are also alert and very active dogs that are naturally healthy. They love family and kids, but they tend to get jealous if there are other pets around, thus they are unwelcoming to other animals. The Indian Spitz resembles the appearance of a small fox.
8. Korean Jindo Dog
The Korean Jindo Dog has a variety of colors which includes white, red, red and white, yellow, tan, tan and white, black, black and tan, and brindle. This dog originated from Jingo island in Korea. The one that closely look like the Asian red fox is a Korean Jindo dog with a color mixture of red and white with tan. Despite being stubborn, the dog loves to be around his owner and the family. They are required to have a dose of regular walk and exercise so that they won’t get stubborn.
