The thesis basically addresses Virtual Team Setup and considers fundamental management dynamics as assessable parameters. The drive to conduct the research is in the backdrop of globalization and hence utilizing distributed talent through 'Virtualization Technology'. The journal concludes the results which indicate positive and mixed interpretations in favor of virtual teams.
The first part of the journal addresses very specific area of 'Software Engineering' and the second part is about Virtual Team Setup as a general and evolving management model. I am considering the second part of my inference for further and future implications.
In the future, the Virtual Teams are inseparable entities of modern global organizations. Today, it is clearly visible that global economy is based on two major sectors - Manufacturing (including Information Technology product) and Services. Manufacturing which involves products, invariably have product life and hence tend to get saturated due to changing requirements or technological breakthrough. Whatever may be the reasons, for a whole life cycle of the product, the support and service is a must and this is where the virtual teams play a great role. There is a need to analyze and create highly standardized guidelines to protect the rights of members of virtual teams who work on international boundaries and responsibilities of the hiring organizations. This will help in setting virtual teams quickly and effectively.

In future, I strongly believe that, highly qualified individuals with specific functional expertise will team-up as "Virtual Team Entities" and available to the organizations simply as " Talent Service".
As technology improves, businesses expand and recruitment pools decrease, organizations contemplate ways to, not only reduce the overhead costs of doing business but, to attract new talent in a competitive employment marketplace (Darleen, 2012). To do so, many organizations have redefined what it means to ‘go to work’, in terms of not only the act of getting there, but how work is accomplished and where (Lojeski & Yuva, 2008). A study conducted three years ago by the Society For Human Resource Management (SHRM) reported that almost half of the organizations surveyed utilized virtual teams (Minton-Eversole, 2012). Anyone who conducts business using mobile technology devices is considered

Many of the most successful companies in their branch heavily rely on teamwork. Especially companies that offer special services to individual customers which require specific knowledge take advantage of using teams to generate value. Goldman Sachs’ trains its teams regularly to ensure the extraordinary productivity they offer to their customers. “Despite this investment in the individual, our experience is that a person's true potential is only fully developed when he or she works as part of an outstanding team.”[1]
The process of forming virtual teams is very crucial and plays a significant role in the success of a virtual team, since the team members can be formed from virtually anywhere. As such, the management of the particular organizations needs to take significant care in the formation of virtual teams. Lerner (2008), did say that the leaders of distributed teams should have a heightened sense of awareness of the various subgroup formations and their weaknesses”. Thus the formation of virtual teams is critical to ensuring the objectives for a given project are met and the chemistry of the team is proper to achieve given goals. Karayaz (2006) did define thr...

My virtual discussion with my fellow classmate Jeannette Marcel has led to numerous conclusions regarding the recreational playgrounds at our neighborhoods. While we do experience shortage of playgrounds, some areas also require additional maintenance with financial issues being obstacles in many instances. However, if the play area is only equipped with regular slides and swings, would children with disabilities be able to use them? The answer is simply no.

Its engaging experience allowed for interactive learning and a thorough analysis of the interrelationship between effective communication and the beneficial outcomes of shared leadership in groups and teams. Through my individual experience as an observer assisted with my experience as a group member, the development of groups according to Tuckman’s model and ineffective methods such as barriers to communication and shared leadership possibly reduced the inefficiency in the first simulation. By implementing specific strategies such as minimizing intra-group conflict, adopting positive leadership attitudes and assigning roles to team members, group cohesion and team dynamics can be optimized in order to increase individual and team performance as reflected through our results.

Today’s organizations operate in a challenging and global environment, which has forced them to become leaners, reduce production cycles, and improve production and communication technology where essential employees and content expertise have been consolidated. Organizational leaders currently do not have definitive evidence of management styles that they should seek to ensure members of a culturally diverse virtual team develop leadership, trust, and accountability. Virtual team management effectiveness will be evaluated under the five main types of management styles (Robert Tannenbaum & Warren H. Schmidt, 1958 & 1973) and other modern styles. These management styles or theories are the autocratic, democratic, bureaucratic, paternalistic, and laissez-faire. However, there are other more “modern” management styles or lead...
When we think of the word team, individually many different ideas may come to mind about what a team really is. Some may think of an NFL team (Tennessee Titans), an NBA team (Sacramento Kings), or a NASA astronaut team with such pioneers as Edwin Aldrin, Jr. and Neil Armstrong as members. You might even think of the U.S. Navy, Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, or Marines as teams. In fact they all are, and they have a great deal in common as teams. However, for the purposes of this paper I will examine the characteristics of work teams, as they apply to organizations and I will supply answers to the following questions: What is a team? Where did the team concept come from? What are the types of teams? What are the advantages and disadvantages of having teams in organizations? What does it take to make a team effective?
A virtual team is a group of people working interdependently via various types of electronic media across organizational and geographical boundaries for a shared purpose (D’Souza & Colarelli, 2010). Research indicates virtual teams are becoming increasingly popular in organizations across the United States and the world (D’Souza & Colarelli, 2010; Rusman, van Bruggen, Sloep, & Koper, 2010). These teams vary in size, degree of geographic dispersion, prior shared work experience, nature of assignment, and expectations of a common future (Rusman et al., 2010). Although virtual teams have potential advantages like the removal of physical boundaries, the ability to form new partnerships, and optimization of competencies (Chinowsky & Rojas, 2003), they also introduce many challenges that may not be as prevalent in traditional teams.
The virtual organization is a network of independent suppliers, customers, and even competitors, generally tied together by computer technology (Roger, 1991). They share skills, costs, and access to markets. It is tend to have flat structures in which information and decision making move horizontally (Judith R.G, 2002). Through the support of modern electronic system, it becomes possible to link people across formal organizational boundaries (Judith, 2002, quoted in S.G. Straus, S.P. Weisband, and J.M. Wilson, 1998).
There are four different types of teams. These teams are problem-solving teams, self-managed work teams, cross-functional teams, and virtual teams. Problem-solving teams work together to help find methods to improve the work environment or have suggestions to increase employee’s morale. Self-managed work teams organize the responsibilities of the employee’s such as assigning tasks to individuals, scheduling conflicts, and evaluate employee performances. Cross-functional teams are individuals whom all have experience in the same work field. The individuals come together as a team to incorporate their thoughts, designs, and new ideas to accomplish what the company needs to improve or create. Virtual teams are individuals that work together, but only by technology such as the internet, emails, or web cam.
