The idea of virtual public homeschooling is quickly becoming a strong concept primary within our society. Lobbyist all over America are fighting for these schools and there right to equal funding from the government. Most people are not aware that the schools that they are fighting for are free. These schools have many benefits like providing a safe environment for students who are bullied, providing alternative learning environments for students who have intellectual disabilities, or allowing students who live with chronic illnesses to not fall behind in their academics. Currently in the state of Alabama virtual public schooling is only offered to kindergarten through second grade students, but over the next year law makers are working to increase the educational funding so that virtual public schools will be offered to students in kindergarten through the twelfth grade. I believe that virtual public schools should receive more educational funding from the government …show more content…
They do not require a physical building, so the cost is less because they have no facilities to take care of. The only cost of the virtual schools would be for the curriculum and the teachers who design it, the technology analysts that would build the website, and an administrator or two. Not only would the financial obligations be much more less than a traditional brick and mortar school, it would also serve more types of students. The establishment of a strong curriculum provides a stress reliever for families, and ensures them that their child is receiving a quality education that will prepare them for standardize testing as well as secondary education (college, etc.) Also, student who chose to attend homeschools will be taught by certified public school teachers instead of having class administered by a parent or computer program. Virtual public schooling allows for different types of students to learn in the ways in that best suits their
There are new types of public charter schools that are another form of opportunity inequality because they are almost a public and private school blended together. These charter schools are becoming more popular and their number of students is growing exponentially. A website called uncommonschools.org defines what a charter school is and how their different when they write
Home school education has been growing exponentially in America over the past couple decades as more and more families are deciding to cultivate their kids’ educations in a more personalized fashion. Parents choose to home school their children for a large variety of reasons. The most popular reasons for this decision include dissatisfaction with the current education system, religious freedom in education, and personalized education for certain skillsets. Home school educations grew in popularity as the Internet became more prevalent in culture. The Internet allowed parents to access more educational materials from home and communicate with other home school families across the globe. Home school has had an impact on the identities of students
Homeschooling, could this be the future of the America? What are some benefits of homeschooling verses traditional schooling? Homeschooling has been around for quite some time now. Most families choose to home school their children for a number of reasons, the main reason from my understanding of the readings is Religion. Other reasons very from the type of environments public schools provide to their child not getting enough attention. We could go on and on about the different reason parents choose to homeschool their kids. Homeschooling your kids the right way takes a lot of time, money, and resources for it to be done right and for the kids to benefit from it. Public school teachers specialize in their specific areas weather its Math,
Another issue with home schooling is organization. Scheduling is really important to some of us. Kids don’t just get up in the mornings all happy to tackle another Algebra equation. Some of the parents don 't have a work schedule. What are they going to do when they get called in to work all day? A schedule is very important when they are going to do homeschooling. Also realize that homeschooling is very time consuming, especially in the younger grades. they would need a lot of time and patience. Are they ready for that?
...e, evaluate, and assist instructors. And they are pioneering performance-based education funding models (Tucker 5). Where successful, virtual schooling demonstrates that innovative reforms can be readily integrated into the public school system. As a result, it is increasingly important to understand both the innovations that are emerging from online schooling and their potential to leverage reform on a far larger scale in public education.
Virtualization has come a long way from when it was found. In the 1960’s IBM had a huge range of systems. Every generation passing brought along a long different system then the previous generation. As this kept it harder on the user to keep their current system without buying a whole lots of parts that are needed to keep up with the new systems. The computers of that time were only able to run one thing at a time. If you needed multitask you need long scripts to automate everything. But it wasn’t until recently that the virtualization became affordable and more useful in a company environment.
Overall the completion of school can be done whether in public schools or homeschooled, but that just depends on the needs and response of the student. Understanding that each student is different and need different levels of assistance with complications they might face. Depending on the child’s needs, homeschooling and/or public school can promote or decrease their success and their overall opinion of school in general. Each of the articles expressed the both positive and negative forces and things that can come into effect. Time, patience and understanding is what is incorporated in rather someone is encouraging public education or going with the homeschooling approach. But in the end the choice of education is yours, and the work of your child and their understanding of the topics that will be covered and the amount of time that is necessary.
How many college students do you know that just attend college? Does nothing else no work and get their finances handled by parents? I say the chance are very low a college student is just a student. However, it is said that nearly half of all undergraduate students hold a job that is a lot no? So how is it that we are supposed to give almost 45 hours a week to just focus on school alone. Is that even possible? What happens to everything else we have going like working full/part time, having a family and relationships. Where do we fit all of it in to the little time we have day in and out?
Growing up around kids who have only been home schooled and hasn’t ever been to a public school before, I have noticed glaring problems. When socializing with others, they struggle, and need their parents to ask questions for them. They don’t have a set of standards, and get taught what their parents want to teach. They don’t have extracurricular activities that mold them for the future. When it comes to structure there isn’t any, they do what they want when they want. Their parents aren’t teachers, and just teach them what they want to teach them. Finally they don’t get certain benefits offered by all public schools. All these reasons and many more, is why I think Public schooling can be a better educational system than homeschooling.
Over the years society has changed in many different ways. In particular, technology has been the largest change that has occurred over the year. Only a few years ago the iPhone came out and it has forever changed the way people view their phone. Internet has also become very assessable resource. There are places everywhere to access a computer or free Wi-Fi. These changes have led to the alteration of the accessibility and use of technology in the education setting. The changes made to technology in the education setting have led to many positive outcomes that have allowed many types of people access to education that could not get it prior. There are however, many critics that refute these changes and say that virtual education can be biased and expensive. Although, there are many critics that do not agree with technology in education, have this can give access to many students with disabilities as well as people who have limited time or ability to further an education.
Effectively working within the realm of Global eLearning requires patience, creativity, flexibility, and proper planning. Some individuals find the new depths of technology daunting and choose to stay clear. While others choose to focus on the more superficial areas and simply use state-of-the-art technology to play games and shop. Still, there are individuals who have concerns about the expense of keeping up with today’s technology demands and choose to do things “the old-fashioned way.” As education continues to dive deeper into the pools of tools that the high tech industry offers it will be important to be a skillful swimmer with a strong plan intact. As a high school Biology instructor on the abyss of walking into a newly integrated
Education enriches and empowers individuals to achieve beyond their imaginations, Education is a prosperous investment it perhaps draws a line between the rich and the poor. Not only our parents but also the greatest people of all times, have continuously placed a higher emphasis on education, However, what is education? Is it finding x, filling in the blanks or multiple choice? Or is it the price we pay for being humans. Sometimes the burden of school work is such that we start to reassess our priorities “do I really need an education” you ask yourself or maybe there is a shortcut to success. There’s no doubt that education is essential for a civilized society and also a key to personal growth. The question aises, is our education system doing
What are virtual field trips? According to Kirchen (2011) “A virtual field trip (VFT) is a technology-based experience that allows children to take an educational journey without leaving the classroom" (p.22). VFTs can take students all over the world. Teachers have the opportunity to create VFTs that connect to the curriculum. While teachers are able to create their own VFT, there are also trips available for free online. VFTs can be used in any classroom, including early childhood classrooms (grades pre-k to 2nd). Technology does not need to be the most advanced for teachers to be able to implement VFT into their classroom. Lukes (2014) mentioned that VFT can be used using “a relatively low-techs solution that would work on any computer
For most of the delinquent students got caught from their slightly misbehaving act for the first few times is not really a problem. What they don’t know about is that there is a program that can literarily handle even the most delinquent student must also bow down in surrender. The program is called “Weekend School”, also known for many students as “Hellish Torture School.” It was considered the most terrible and awful program and most students were afraid of. Because they believe that if they get into the weekend school, they have only one percent chance of survive. This programs it only available to most of the South East Asia countries middle school and high school. The purpose is to deal with delinquent students who get caught for their
“Let us think of education as the means of developing our greatest abilities, because in each of us there is a private hope and dream which, fulfilled, can be translated into benefit for everyone and greater strength for our nation.” John F. Kennedy. The current state of the education system leaves much to be desired. The United States was once head of the class in respect to the effectiveness of the educational system. This has not been the case in recent years. There are a wide variety of reasons for this decline but what are the core requirements that need to be focused on to become the world leader in education again?
