Virtual Office Project

The project select for the use of this team is from the service reports for McBride Financial Services. Service request SR-mf-002 asks for a report that analyzes the options “allowing secure remote access into the local network” (University of Phoenix, 2007 ¶ 5) to be used by the brokers and client of McBride Financial Services in place of creating new offices in some of the remote areas of the states they service.

Work Breakdown Structure

The Work Breakdown Structure or WBS is a document that organizes the work needing to be done on a project. The WBS is used to breakdown the large concepts of a big project into smaller manageable pieces or tasks. This document provides a starting point for planning and managing the project schedules, resources, changes and costs. The work breakdown structure can be portrayed as a family tree of tasks and procedures using a hierarchical organization chart with the result or zero level of the chart being the successful completion of the project. The work breakdown structure can also be presented as an itemized list of tasks that need to be completed

Starting at the top, the initial level or zero level of the hierarchical structure is project as it would be completed. In the McBride virtual office project the next level or level one is the project management groups of Initiating, Planning, Executing and Closing. The second level of this project’s hierarchical structure would be the tasks that need to be completed to create the deliverables and produce the end of the project.
