Villain or Dark Knight
Christopher Dorner an exemplary soldier turned triple murderer. From a National Defense Service Medal to Rifle marksmanship ribbon, Dorner was textbook soldier (accolades). After filing a report against a fellow LAPD officer, Dorner was dismissed from the department. Shortly after being fired, Dorner was charged with the murder of a police officer and 2 citizens, and the attempted murder of 3 other citizens. Dubbed the cop killer, Dorner has been vilified by the media, yet there is a select group who support Dorner. Two different viewpoints have emerged on Chris Dorner, some call him horrible while others call him a “Dark Knight”.
Early August Chris Dorner filed an abuse report against his patrol partner Teresa Evans. Evans was acquitted and a return charge was presented against Dorner. Chris Dorner’s was found guilty and his police career was ended September 4, 2008. Up until January Dorner kept trying for an appeal with no success. On February 3rd 2013 Monica Quan and her fiancé Keith Lawrence were found shot to death in an Irvine parking garage. Monica Quan was the daughter of former LAPD Captain Randal Quan who had represented Dorner in the case that resulted in his termination from the LAPD in 2009. On February 11, 2013, the Riverside District Attorney filed charges against Dorner for the murder of a Monica Quan and the attempted murder of three other officers. “These charges made Dorner eligible for the Death penalty” (death penalty).

...ss B uniform which did not include a tie. It was clear that people had lied in favor of Officer Evans. “Why did you feel the need to embellish and lie about your involvement in the UOF” (Dorner, 4)? Chris said he had crossed the “Blue Line”, and he had been terminated as a result. Chris says his former sergeant Maggie Faust warned him long ago about “joining the LAPD as they were “different” and operated differently from other modern law enforcement agencies”(Dorner, 14).
Dorner goes on about his opinion on everything and gives insight into the whole situation in his manifesto which i strongly suggest taking a few minutes to read. There is definitely two ways to look at this situation. One can see why he was so angry but it still doesn't justify the killings he planned to commit or did commit. Even if you support Christopher Dorner you cannot support his actions.
The chase which initially involved a single police officer turned into a twenty plus police vehicle pursuit of Mr.Deady.
Marco Topete, 39, was convicted of First Degree Murder with Special Circumstances after a high speed pursuit lead to the death of Yolo County Sheriff’s Deputy Jose Antonio Diaz on 15 June 2008. Diaz was fatally struck in the chest by one of seventeen .223 caliber rounds fired from an AR-15 Assault Rifle fired by Marco Topete.
...erall, I think that this interview has taught me that every law enforcement officer have a different opinion and it should be voiced. Mr. Cayette told me exactly how he felt without holding back. It was different just listening to the responses because it was said by an actual officer instead of just another ordinary person expressing how they feel. The interview also made me realize that people cannot be mad at every police officer for one police officer’s wrong doing. According to National Law Enforcement Memorial Fund, “There are more than 900,000 sworn law enforcement officers now serving in the United States, which is the highest figure ever. About 12 percent of those are female.” People should stop listening to the media all the time because it does convince people to hate police officers because there are many police officers in the U.S. with good intentions.

On October 20, 2014 a young male teen was fatally shot in Chicago, Illinois. The shooting occurred in the middle of the road and the suspect that was fatally shot was named Laquan McDonald. McDonald was just 17 years old and was the suspect after initial reports placed him in the scene of a possible car jacking. It was reported that Laquan McDonald had a knife and was also seen slashing tires of a police cruiser. When police had finally had him surrounded in the middle of the road, one officer opened fire and released 16 shots into his body. Another deputy on hand said the use of force was not needed because Laquan was not in any way trying to attack the officers present. The officer who fired the 16 shots into Laquan is named Jason D. Van
On September 21, 2016 an unarmed black male named Terrence Crutcher from Oklahoma was fatally shot by a female police officer as he stood outside his vehicle. Police officers responded to Crutcher, age 40, in response to a stalled vehicle in the roadway. At the moment it was unknown to the officers if Crutcher was armed at the time. Police said Crutcher approached the officers after the officers arrived. Investigators said that Crutcher refused to obey several orders given to him to show his hands. Officials said that when Crutcher reached into his car that is when one officer fired his taser while another officer fired one shot.
...discussion and deep consideration for the issues facing the city of Sanford, I have determined the police chief needs to have the trust and respect of the elected officials and the confidence of the entire community,” Bonaparte said in the statement. “We need to move forward with a police chief that all the citizens of Sanford can support.” (Miami Herald News). The shooting of the 17-year-old boy Trayvon Martin that has sparked national outrage and has also painted Sanford in an unfavorable light across the country (Miami Herald News). It was sad to see that the parents of Trayvon could not receive Justice for the death of the their son. Everyone around the world followed this case and it was very disturbing and upsetting to find that the jury found George Zimmerman not guilty for killing a innocent seventeen year old boy who was just walking home from the store.
To citizens, Darren Wilson killed Michael Brown of out racial prejudice. To police officers, Darren Wilson killed Michael Brown out of self defense. The media focused mainly on the citizens negative reactions, consequently labeling Darren Wilson as a racist murderer. The officer received numerous death threats, putting his life in danger. Ben Brumfield and Brian Todd, reporters for CNN state, “Fellow officers have been by [Darren Wilson’s] side day and night, as deadly threats have driven the former Ferguson police officer into hiding…” This is a prime example that media can ruin the lives of officers, as well as put them in legitimate
While we will never know the true reasons behind Christopher Dorner’s plot and plans, we can use different theories to better understand why he committed such a terrible crime. Maybe the LAPD is a corrupt agency and maybe prior to the killings Dorner was innocent. We will honestly never know the truth, but one thing that we do know is Christopher Dorner was a stressed individual who had blocked goals. Because of the attributes that Dorner possessed he was more dangerous and keen than the average person. Christopher Dorner was also an individual who possessed very low self-control. During stressful situations most individuals can handle their stress in civil ways such as crying, slight irritation, or depressions. Dorner, instead could not control himself in a civil manner, and because of that went from being a law-abiding police officer to a killer.
Instantaneously, the title of The Dark Knight jumps out as a parallel to Jesus Christ. The title is stating that the dark knight, Batman , rises, just like Jesus arose. A Knight is “a man ,usually of noble birth, bound to chivalrous conduct” Referring to Batman as a dark knight gives off the impression that, although he is good, there is something dark about him. The dark side of Batman can be said to be that he is the one who killed Harvey when in reality later throughout the movie it explains that he did not kill him, Batman is indeed good. Although Jesus would be considered a “good knight” some may have viewed him as a dark knight because he disturbed some of the peace. Jesus was viewed as someone who came about to disturb the peace of the
Batman (Christian Bale) is hoping to hand on his crime fighting duties to D.A Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) yet when Batman’s cards are on the table the twisted mastermind who goes by the name of the joker (Heath Ledger), forces the masked vigilante to go against everything he ever stood for.
Numerous media outlet’s painted the New Orleans Police Department as if were staffed by criminals who wore badges. Mayor Mitch Landrieu, along with many others, knew there was a growing problem within the NOPD and even invited the Justice Department to assist with a clean up of the law enforcement agency that had grown increasingly lawless. The Mayor even went as far to admit a systemic failure within the department (Frieden). The media set the tone for this story as if there were a serious issue within the department that desperately needed a solution, which is what the NOPD received.
Either a Police Officer has been shot or a Police Officer has shot a citizen, but either way the final result is death. Whether an Officer has been shot or an Officer has shot someone these cases seem to be related to one thing, fear. People in today’s society feel as though they can’t trust Police Officers as they are there to hurt and kill them. And Police Officers feel as though they are in danger of doing their everyday duties because people see them as the “bad guys” and want to hurt or

The family of Michael Brown wanted justice for their son in which they felt was an unjust shooting. His mother was quoted expressing mistrust towards the police, "You 're not God. You don 't decide when you 're going to take somebody from here.” (McLaughlin, E. C. (2014, August 15) The family was obviously hurt by the shooting and wanted justice and support. The community began protesting the shooting and Officer Darren Wilson. Chaos broke out in Ferguson and a State of Emergency was issued. The community felt that the shooting was unjust and did not trust police officers. The community response to the shooting often attracted attention and made many political statements. Darren Wilson’s family were interested in maintaining his innocence. They hoped that the investigation would prove to the world that Wilson acted out of self-defense and did not violate Brown’s rights. The Criminal Justice system’s interests all hoped to create reforms and eliminate racism in police departments. On the local level many had to maintain safety in the community and assure proper police procedures. The state had to step into issue curfews and State of Emergencies to keep the state safe despite protests and riots as well as make sure Darren Wilson did not violate any laws of the state of Missouri. The state also hoped to create reforms to better race relations. On the federal level was the investigation which hoped to find out if the
