Even though the Vietnam War has ended the long time ago, the Vietnamese in the South, who already live in the new countries today, are still fighting against Vietnam communist government. On their mind, there are always some kind of sadness and the memories of the life of peace in the South Vietnam before 1975.
After the Fall of Saigon in 1975, there were many Vietnamese people in the South that left Vietnam as the first wave of Vietnamese immigration. According to an article in the City of Seattle website, “Before 1975, Vietnamese men and women came to the United States to study and to receive military training. In education, South Vietnam put a lot of efforts to promote education. According to figure 2, 3 in a research paper, in the World History Class at KMLA From 1954 to 1973, the number of students who attended primary school, secondary school, and universities kept increasing (Kim). In economy, during the Vietnam War, the South Vietnamese economy was growing in quality and quantity, especially on food production and industrial production index. According to table 1 in a research paper, in the World History Class at KMLA, from 1954 to 1973, the area that cultivated rice increased about 30%, while the output of rice increased about 203%.During the war, the industrial production index was increasing average 6.86% per year (Kim). But the Fall of Saigon put them in the hard decision because they were not promised to have good lives when the North government controlled Vietnam. They had to decide whether to leave Vietnam, and which one they chose was also the hard way for them. Leaving country to migrate to a new country however was really hurt and sad.
