Wizard101 vs. Pirate101, these very well known games have now some deep roots in the younger generations. These two games I feel as a topic for a compare and contrast paper can be very well done and informative. These two video games made by the same company, KingsIsle Entertainment have many similarities, but at the same they have many differences. The areas I feel would be best to compare and contrast these two game are their most notable and unique aspects of these games. The areas are their weapons and their gear, second I would like to compare and contrast their modes of transport this includes multi world travel and in world travel, what I mean is how they travel to other worlds and how they travel within their own worlds. The last topic …show more content…
The Pirate101 weapons include guns that would be used in the days when Blackbeard roamed the waters. The games also both having swords is quite a big similarity, but the swords use is quite different, the Wizard101 swords appear to be enchanted and they show the abilities of an enchanted item by the power to cast spells and enchantments. The Pirate101 swords are not enchanted or are their guns . These items do the abilities that they could do in the real world. The Wizard101 gear and outfits sport the same type of abilities as Pirate101. This includes how they both gives you defences and attack boosts for combat, as well as the mana boosts (mana is a substance that allows you to cast spells and do actions in battles) and health boosts. The boosts and defences that the clothes gives you are similar so are the looks, this does discount the starter clothes because they resemble the game and class you choose. However, later on you can get clothes that appear very similar in style. On the contrast the games have very different styles when it comes to transport, whether it is in world travel or multi world travel they have very different styles each very …show more content…
Even though Wizard101 and Pirate101 have quite a lot of differences they are made by the same company, KingsIsle Entertainment and take place in the magical world of the Spiral. These games, as a topic of this compare and contrast paper I feel was a good choice because to me it opened up what both games had to offer even if what I talked about was only a few of what could be said. The games in my opinion set a fun new look on gaming for the young and impressionable audiences that are looking into a world of
While video games can have a negative impact on those who use them what is often overlooked as Wright points out is their ability to help those who play them in ways that nothing else can. His comparisons and the way he relates video games to people will certainly make people reconsider their thoughts and feelings about video games. Wright wants his audience to consider the fact that video games are not completely bad and to not look down on those who play
During the 1990’s the video games were constantly changing.this decade saw tons of innovations in the gaming industry. The creation of 32-bit games and 3D games dominated the virtual world: Contra, Battletoads, Mortal Kombat, etc. Video game genres developed and branched out, creating some of the popular genres in video games today, such Role-playing games(RPGs),
In pages 20-24 of Reality Is Broken: Why Games Make Us Better and How They Can Change the World, I agree that there are many different video games. For me, I am a fan of single-player games with story modes because I can play by myself and go at a pace that suits me. However, I enjoy playing online multiplayer when I have friends I can play with because it is fun interacting with friends and doing stuff together. I play on a console or my computer, but I have played on my phone and a hand-held device. I have not played a board game or card game in a while, but I would play it if the opportunity presents itself. The video games genres I play are sports, action, and adventure. I agree with Jane McGonigal that video games share four defining traits,
In order to create an activity where students can compare and contrast two books, the books must have at least one thing in common. This could be having the same author, characters, themes, cultures, or plots. Comparing and contrasting has many benefits for students. Comparing and contrasting can strengthen a student’s ability to remember, help create higher-order thinking skills, and enhance a student’s comprehension skills. (Silver, 2010)

ames have been played before we began to record time. Almost 50 years ago, games changed into a new form. Magnavox Odyssey can be debated to be the first game console. Throughout 50 years ago and now, video games have become essential to every living room and a pastime to every young child. Companies have risen from this new industry, to produce games to young investors and dominate the game world. With new technology, graphics, and software: gaming franchises run mostly by public support. Each decade that passes, games are changed by America’s public these games change based on how the public perceives them.
In the two novels, Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and Harry Potter: The Prisoner of Azkaban, by J.K. Rowling, there is a distinct relationship that is created through the idea that there are the chosen individuals are the only ones that can save the world.

Video games are games that allows interaction with one user playing against the system or two or more players against each other on a video screen such as a TV or computer monitor. Video games are good ways to understand and master skills in the game. When comparing Madden and 2k, the two games are very similar in a way such as, they are both a physical sport. They are both controlled by a person behind an analog stick. The games have some of the similar controls. The games are very effective in our youth lives. This effect could be a good and a bad thing, because the game could keep the youth in the house and out of trouble, or it could cause damage in the long run because of the youth being in front of a Television for a long time.
In society’s current era of technological advancement, video games have gone a long way since they were first created. Video games in the twenty-first century are no longer just toys or junk in the lifestyles of the youth. They have become innovative inventions that not only entertain its users, but also help aid the people in both the academic field and in jobs. The influences that video games bring about in the culture of the youth today are, in fact, not the negative influences that most people think. Video games are actually this generation’s new medium for educating the youth. The information they learn are also mostly positive and useful things that they may apply in their future lives (Prensky 4). In a generation that revolves around technology and connectivity, developers and educators have already been able to produce fun and interesting games that can teach and train people. Video game developers and educators should continue to collaborate in order to create more positive, educational, and appealing games.
Video games are no longer the uprising form of media that ill informed parents and scientists used to fear; video games are now an established form of entertainment that is just as universally accepted as film or literature. The difference between videogames and mediums like film and literature is that they do not have the higher value that books have in exercising the mind and communicating information, nor do they have the value that films have to intellectually challenge an audience and to make people think. This is the general argument that can be heard voiced by leading intellectuals in various field as well as parents who are rising young children; both claim that videogames
Many people believe that video games change people and mislead them to do bad things, such as drugs and alcohol, but it is the opposite. Gaming prevents people from such acts and actually helps to keep them away from the substances. Lots of people, mainly parents, believe that video games harm people so they try to keep their children away from them. In reality, video games make your life better. Video games can provide many benefits to your lifestyle as “numerous academic studies indicate that playing video games has many psychological and even physical benefits” (Guarini). Gaming helps stimulate the brain and advances your problem solving abilities. There are disadvantages to gaming, which is true, but the amount of benefits outweigh them by far.
In the editorial “Video Games Pro Con”, author Steven Markoff gives a compelling argument and uses many ethos and logos. The information he uses helps his argument and his information is current. Using the “(2008) study Grand Theft Childhoo...
In the video game Enter the Matrix, released in 2003, the players take on the role of supporting characters in the film sequel Matrix Reloaded. They play the side stories; those that not appear on screen in the film. The game is inspired by the world that is depicted in the film. Enter the Matrix displays distinct visual parallel between the film and the video game. The overlook of the film and video game is similar and distinguishable because the video game mimics the visual style of the film. It gets players satisfied with their purchase of the game. Playing the game is a different experience for the players because it connects them with the source material. It allows them to be part of the story and to feel to be the character of their franchise. Players are considered spectators too because there are some cinematic cut scenes that are shown in the game which makes them observe and do n...
