Video games can be seen in both a positive and negative light. Video gaming has become a popular activity for people of all ages, yet many fear the aftermath they can ensue. Many children and adolescents expend large amounts of time playing them. Video gaming is a multibillion-dollar industry – bringing in more money than movies and DVDs. In fact, the PlayStation 2 was the first video game system to integrate DVD mechanics. It was originally intended to exist as a CD add-on to complement the Super Nintendo, but due to licensing difficulties Sony chose to develop the PlayStation as its own distinctive system. Mainly because of the violence that most of them hold. The violence provokes violent thoughts and increased acts of aggression, and feelings. I can understand how video games would worsen the level of ferocity that a child already has. Being a dedicated gamer at a young age, I had my share of aggressive thoughts myself. Yet, I never had the intentions of actually committing those acts. When a child plays a video game, they are rewarded for violent conduct such as vengeance. These types of games put the adolescence in control of the violence and lets them witness it with their own eyes. When teens that spend a lot of time playing video games commit crimes, the media incriminate video games without question. Indeed overexertion of games can lead a teen to be socially isolated. This can cause them to spend less time doing homework, reading, sports, or spending time with family and friends. Games also get the charge for teaching children the wrong values. It’s rare when negotiation and other nonviolent solutions are available options in video games. Women too are often depicted as fragile characters that are helpless or sexually
