Kendall Jenner. Gigi Hadid. Alessandra Ambrosio. These are just some of the women that have become ‘angels’ for world renowned lingerie company, Victoria's Secret. As the 9th of December comes around, many people will be watching the infamous Victoria's Secret Fashion Show which is to be held in New York City. Yet, when you look past the extravagant fake angel wings, there is hundreds of hours spent agonising over a treadmill and strict laws debating whether or not they can eat the simplest of things. A recent campaign made by the company had the general public furious. The ‘#perfectbody’ campaign was launched by Victoria's Secret in 2014 and featured advertisements with the same slim models again claiming to be ‘perfect’. It caused such anger amongst the public that a petition was launched in order for the company to apologize and change the name due to its body-shaming connotations. Francis Black, the woman who began the petition wrote ‘This marketing campaign is harmful. It fails to celebrate the amazing diversity of women’s bodies by choosing to call only one body type 'perfect'. 33,001 supporters signed the petition and clearly showed that these discriminatory advertisements will not be tolerated by the public. JD Williams, a well known fashion retailer, has launched their own ‘#PerfectlyImperfect’ campaign which rivals the Victoria’s Secret campaign. The campaign lashes back at the lingerie company, showing models that feature different body types and encourages body confidence for all
