I am writing in reference to international charges posted on my most recent phone bill (Billing date – 02/20/05). To explain the situation, I traveled to Manchester, England on January 22, 2005 through February 8, 2005. On January 25, 2005, my wife called to inquire about international calling plans offered by Verizon. She was informed by a Verizon employee that the calling plan cost $4/month and that would entitle her to $.08/minute to England. Based on this fact, we used the calling plan for the rest of the time I was England, assuming we were paying $.08/minute.
However, when we received the phone bill, the charges for all calls made through the calling plan were charged at $.30/minute. When I contacted Verizon regarding the difference, I was told that each call had a premium service termination charge attached to it of $.22/minute.
My problem with this situation is that my wife was never informed that a premium service termination charge existed. When she signed up for the plan, a Verizon employee specifically told her that all calls to England would be $.08/minute. She was not given a qualifier stating that there was a possibility the charges may be higher due to a premium service termination. Furthermore, we never received literature explaining the details of the plan. Had we known that charges could have been $.30/minute, we would have used an alternative calling plan with much lower rates.
Due to false information, or a lack of important information, given to us by a Verizon employee, we were overcharged $89.
Verizon Wireless cellular service is inelastic because the products and services it offers makes them the dominant leader in the wireless industry; therefore, a 10% change in calling plan prices (monthly access fees) would not affect the quantity demanded. Verizon Wireless can depend on this inelasticity in their pricing model because of the strength of its brand and the wealth of products and services it offers. Verizon Wireless' competitive advantage comes from its ultra-low churn rate (the percentage of customers who disconnect their service is less than one percent of its 60 million customer base). This indicator suggests that customers are satisfied with the service Verizon Wireless offers and a slight price increase probably would not drive its customers to the competition. This data also suggests that customers probably stay with Verizon Wireless because of its continued expansion of new technologies and services such as its all-digital nationwide CDMA network, EVDO' or its advanced data network (used to wireless send and receive email and other data almost anywhere in the US), and VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) that they use for their Push to Talk products. Verizon Wireless markets to a nearly all demographics nationwide and most of its services are offered in the smaller rural markets as a direct result of the one billion dollars per quarter it spends on improving its network as well as acquiring smaller wireless networks to make their nationwide network stronger and larger.
Gross brought in a copy of an e-mail sent by Verizon confirming her new device purchases. Gross stated she received that e-mail the same day her cell phone stopped operating. Gross also made contact with Verizon and asked a few questions about the suspect(s) that used her information to purchase iPhone 6’s. Gross was told by Verizon, there were three iPhone 6’s purchased at the Best Buy in Tacoma, WA. The Best Buy store location number was 7070001. Their address was 2214 South 48th Street, Tacoma, WA 98409. Best Buy’s telephone number was 253-476-4871. The total amount charged to her account was $2999.96. In this day and age it seems like everyone from the youngest to the oldest has a cellphone. I’ve seen children as young as 5 years to adult over the age of 80 years olds using a cellphone. I believe I don’t need a cellphone. Cellphones and its accessory such as the cases can be very expensive. Don’t get me started on the monthly bill. When you first open an account, the wireless carrier claims they are giving you the best plan ever, and that the monthly rate will remain the same for a least one year. However, within a month or two you look on your bill and see that you have to pay at least $40 more than when your service started. These are the hidden fees and cost that the carrier does not tell you about when they lure you in to choosing
Imagine if nobody had a cellphone in today’s world. That’s why today everybody has some form of a cellphone contract with the four major companies (AT&T, Sprint, Verizon or T-Mobile) or a less know cellphone provider. AT&T and Verizon Wireless provide more than the other two major companies.

In conclusion, AT&T has become more organized and improved its tactics to target the younger consumer of their products by adding IM, internet and text messaging to their plans. Even landline connection free due to the Unity Plan and the rollover minutes can make your life more talkative and productive. They also have increased their profit by extending their name to your TV when you purchase U-verse. And now you can make your decision. Wouldn’t you be more comfortable with AT&T products to comfort your life?
Switching Costs- AT&T allows number portability and maintains the industry practice of 2-year contract commitments. They are adequate in this regard.
South Street Hospital (SSH) is 1 of 12 not-for-profit healthcare systems in the Great West Hospital System. Their corporate call center located at Great West handles all 12 hospitals. Dr. Canton is a colorectal surgeon at SSH. His office received an irate call from Mr. Gutsy canceling his surgery scheduled for the next day. He claimed that a woman from SSH had called him demanding that he bring money to the admitting center for his co-pay but stated that he could not remember her name. He stated that he did not want to go anywhere that makes these kinds of demands (Buchbinder & Shanks, 2012).
In this paper, I will compare three different websites that contain information about cell phone plans. I chose T-mobile, Verizon and Sprint for comparisons. I chose T-Mobile because I am currently using T-mobile as my cell phone plan. I selected Verizon and Sprint because they are the leading competitors of T-mobile.
Verizon’s very low P/E ratio means their investors expect to make a lower amount per dollar than AT&T and the market in general. This is a huge disadvantage for Verizon’s capital structure and does not demonstrate good use of leverage when combined with their current debt.
Cellular phones carry a diverse group of users. In June 1985, there were about 203,000 cellular phone service subscribers. By June 1989, the number had exploded to 2.7 million subscribers, and by June 1995 there were mire than 26 million subscribers. When cell phones were first introduce, only people with a lot of money had them and the service was very expensive. It was a lot cheaper to stop and use the pay phone than it was to use a cell phone. Now, it is almost as cheap to use a cell phone to make a long distance call as it is to make a long distance call using AT&T.

You would not buy a home, car or other large purchases without researching what product offered you the most for your money. The same is true when investing in a company. Investors do avid research on multiple companies to find what company matches the investors' criteria. In this paper Team C will research both AT&T and Verizon's financial documents. Team C will compare selected ratios, cash flow and make recommendations how both companies can manage cash flow for the future.
Global service coverage is in large demand, especially from businessmen who frequently travel. Linda Stern suggests in Newsweek to global travelers that they should “buy your phone and service from T-Mobile, AT&T or Cingular, the only three U.S. companies to use the internationally dominant GSM (Global System for Mobile communication).” Depending on the service provider, one may or may not get coverage in other countries. For example, Verizon customers enjoy phones that work in Latin America, while Cingular customers have coverage in Europe. Even better is AT&T Wireless, which offers “vast international coverage” or TMobile, another international carrier (Stern). Service coverage varies greatly by carrier, with some reaching many countries and others only small portions of a single country.
You can order local, regional or national mobile phone network coverage. Long distance and roaming fees are charged by most carriers, but if you can find a local or regional plan you can save a lot of money. Coverage charges can add up quickly so estimate the number of minutes you will need. If you exceed the allotted minutes, the provider will let you upgrade to more minutes. The minutes will be used on both incoming and outgoing calls. Most carriers have coverage maps on their websites. A prepaid cell phone eliminates the need to be locked into a contract.
