Globalization and modernization caused a lot of societal ills and vices which ravage the world very fast. To aid the said problem, folk music had served and can still serve as a very good medium for channeling moral education to youths since it enhances easy comprehension and assimilation. Folk songs are types of music that use traditional tunes by ancient people and they involve the traditional culture but are not written in any form. This study aims to identify the values in different Ybanag folk songs and manifestation of the values. This study was conducted in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, as it is considered as the Ybanag speaking Municipality in Cagayan Valley. Unstructured interview technique was the research instrument for this study and content analysis was used to analyze the data. The findings showed that Ybanag folk songs contain rich values such as Selfless Love, Expectant Love, Sacrificial Love, Faithful Love, Undying Love, True Love, Companionship, Caring, Sensitivity, Giving, Right choice, Right discernment, Appreciation, Hope,…show more content… Supported by Oghiator (2015), school must help transmit values, needs and aspirations, we are fully aware that the traditional songs are some of these societal values which must be transmitted in our system.
