A vaccine is a substance that is an antibiotic that is used to help prevent or cure someone of a particular disease. Just like most medicines, vaccines can have minor or major side effects. These effects have caused a large debate between parents and doctors about how serious these effects could be. In the United States, from the day you are born you will start receiving vaccines to help prevent and cure illnesses, but these vaccines may be more harmful to a person then it is meant to be.
Before you give birth to your child, one of the many things you need to think about is whether or not you will be allowing a doctor to vaccinate your child. That other ten percent is what gives parents anxiety, their child could be part of that percentages. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there are fourteen diseases that a child from birth to the age six will be vaccinated from(cdc.gov). In 1983, children only received seven vaccines, which it has double the amount of vaccines they are receiving now. They are also worried that these vaccines may contain substances that their child could be allergic to. Autism, sudden infant death syndrome, deafness, ADHD, and developmental disorders are just a few of the side effects parents are extremely worried about happening to their child. More and more parents have decided to not vaccinate their child, that the risk of the actual disease is worth risking then getting the side effect of one of these vaccines. Doctors and scientist have other ideas about these vaccines. They believe just the opposite of these parents, that it is better for you to get the vaccine with the possibility of a side effect than to get the actual disease. The other issue parents have are if their child is allergic to an ingredient in the vaccine. The only thing a baby is eating the first six to nine months is their mother’s milk or formula, you do not know if your child could be allergic to anything
