To immunize or not to immunize your family Diseases and viruses have an epidemic way of spreading when introduced into a community. There are many Common ways people can contract or spread diseases/viruses for some are by sneezing, coughing, contact with bodily fluids, sexual contact or not washing your hands. Today one of the most effective ways of fighting off many of the diseases/viruses is through vaccinations, but there is mixed views about the benefits or downfalls of getting immunized. Should parents chose not to immunize their children now days, the reasons could be that they no longer trust the government or sience findings. it could also be that in today’s world we no longer see the high mortality rates caused by communicable diseases …show more content…

Recently we have heard of measles and chicken pox out breaks within the US. Could this be related to parents refusing to immunize their children or could it be that immunity doesn’t last a lifetime? Even though we see vaccinations being offered at a low fee or free of charge and the benefits have been demonstrated. Still pediatrician find challenges in convincing parents or adults that vaccine prevent deadly communicable diseases today. According to the AMA vaccinations should be mandatory and now they want to enforce vaccinations on the public with or without consent. They are not taking into consideration cultural values or religious beliefs. We know that mandatory vaccinations would be a violation of the code of ethics; this would take us back to the asylums era (mental hospitals) where doctors would force patients to take medication even experimental medications without consent. Lots of vaccinations are conducted in violation of the code of ethics. Studies have shown that vaccinations have increased the life span of humans by living a healthier life span. Because of this we can now live almost free of death ridden illnesses that otherwise would be life threatening for example: chicken pox, whooping cough, polio, and even tetanus. These were the number one causes of death among young children and older adults. Vaccines will continue to have controversial subject for decades to come. We could dispute the fact that individuals could have allergic reactions while others become ill after receiving certain vaccines others could be that “one in a thousand” to have received immunizations yet still contract a communicable disease. We now know that vaccines have eliminated many diseases around the world regardless of all the controversy around vaccines. Yet we continue to learn with the help of science, professionals, and with the involvement of the AMA that vaccines regardless of disagreements of the society they continue to better our quality of life and continue to save many lives. We can now see our children, grandchildren, and even possibly our great grandchildren live and prosper healthy lives Either way I believe it is a good idea that vaccines are being enforced especially in institutional areas like schools and hospitals for the safety of all
