Using the Google Search Engine find two internet sites that provide
internet resources for the study of Australian Literature.

ii. Write a detailed summary in no more than 600 words of what kind of
information and services the sites provide. Give examples as
necessary.
The first of the two websites that I looked at was
www.middlemiss.org/lit/lit.html, it is constructed by Perry Middlemiss
who is a lover of books, and who wishes to pay credit to those
'forgotten' Australian writers on the Web. Middlemiss begins by naming
70 Australian authors, and also provides links to those authors, and
those who do not have links to other sites a promise is made that they
will be provided in the future. By simply clicking on one of the
authors, for example Miles Franklin, you are led to a web page that
gives a brief biography of the author, and also a list of her works,
some of which also have links that give a brief insight.
The site also provides listings of the winners of literary prizes, and
in particular The Miles Franklin Award, and The Australian/Vogel
Award. Again by clicking on these we are lead to a page that provides
the winners of these awards, and also those that were shortlisted. A
page that provides a short description on the authors and the books
that are listed are available by clicking on the links.
Another form of Australian Literature that is provided is poems.
Middlemiss offers his favourite poet, Victor Daley on the site, and
lists some of his poems, which are all accessible. He also lists other
Australian poets, all of which have further links. By clicking on the
poet's name we are lead to a site that offers a short biography of the
poet, for example Adam Lindsay Gordon, the site also offers a list of
his poetry collections and biographies, some of which have further
links that discuss that particular item. Links are also available to
full texts of the poems that are listed. For example by clicking on
The Trenches by Frederic Manning we are lead to the full version of
the poem.
Also available are links to different Australian novels, which have
been segregated under different topic headings, these include fiction,
drama, art, food, histories, and others.
Ozlit (http://home.vicnet.net.au/~ozlit/) offers more than 500 pages
of Australian Literary information, and more than 1100 entries in
their Books and Writers database, which is also fully searchable. A
search engine is available that allows you to search the whole Ozlit
site for information. There is also a links database available that
allows you to search for references on writers.

All of the above sounds good to me; however I have written a term paper
Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau was very close author who wrote towards same points by criticizing the corrupted government because people were treated very badly and they were not given individual rights. They were good author who brought people together and made them understand about the system of the Transcendentalist movement in America. The governor and government itself was very poor to control the people and society due to corrupted leaders and government. Due to economic progress and poor system of government Emerson started criticizing government indirectly and wrote the poem about nature and society because maximum people could not enjoy the same facilities and freedom. But his intension was very clear and he wants to make people aware of what is happening around them. He also wants people to appreciate everything nature provides and not take it for granted. He was very disheartened by the anti-businessman for growth of economic progress and trading activities which has spoiled huge area of nature in the society. He explained that “most adults have lost the ability to see the world in this way. In order to experience awe in the presence of nature, we need to approach it with a balance between our inner and our outer senses. Nature so approached is a part of man, and even when bleak and stormy is capable of elevating his mood. All aspects of nature correspond to some state of mind”. That means he indirectly exclaimed that most of the leaders of society were included in the practices of such activities. On the other hand, Henry David Thoreau is another writer aiming to another target writing against the system of government. “Emerson wants his readers to know that tradition is not everything and society only h...
I am an artist. That is not a disclaimer or a boast; it is a statement of position. I believe in the undeniable importance of art and the futility of censorship. I also believe that art is one of the best indicators of the mood of a culture. Scholars, doctors, therapists, and lawyers can attempt to explain us to ourselves, but their testimony, while useful, will almost always be dry and lacking in emotional depth. I am proud to write in defense of a group that predates and outlasts all other professional analysts of the human condition-creators of art.
Emily’s isolation is evident because after the men that cared about her deserted her, either by death or simply leaving her, she hid from society and didn’t allow anyone to get close to her. Miss Emily is afraid to confront reality. She seems to live in a sort of fantasy world where death has no meaning. Emily refuses to accept or recognize the death of her father, and the fact that the world around her is changing.

Operant conditioning is a process of reinforcing a response that is made by the stimulus and consequence; thus, it shapes an individual's behavior. If a response happens to go along with the stimulus, then this response is reinforced. Therefore, it will increase the chance that response would be reinforced in the future when the same stimulus is presence. Consequence can be broken down into punishment or reinforcement. A punishment would reduce the undesirable action; while reinforcement increases the desirable action. Positive reinforcement involves with a stimulus such as a reward or treats for good behavior. While, negative reinforcement is eliminated the negative stimulus after the desired response is shown. Positive punishment is when a positive stimulus is introduced after an undesirable behavior. Misbehavior children confined in the house would decrease unfavorable behavior.
According to Emerson in ‘The American Scholar’ men are mere puppets and all that men know about history comes from the bookish knowledge. What Emerson is trying to say is that a man should not be a bookworm and that man should look for answers from the nature since nature has all the answers to the questions that men have. One man can represent the whole society of human race if what a man does is appreciated and worth. Man is not sure of his origin also and it is the fables from the books that tell men of how the human race started. The common understanding of men today is that Man was divided so that Men were created but man has forgotten this fact and they think that they are now individuals and this is what Thoreau has to say as well in ‘Walden’. According to Thoreau nature only has answers but it i...
In Shakespeare’s Othello, Iago is the antagonist and villain who causes all the trouble and disorder. Othello is the protagonist, and is the main person Iago’s destruction and revenge is aimed towards. Othello is naïve and gives everybody his trust even though he may not know them or they haven’t earned his trust yet. He often refers to Iago has “Honest” Iago, which is a direct showing of irony because Iago is not honest at all (Shakespeare, I, iii. 289). Iago is so angry that Othello didn’t give him the promotion that was given to Cassio that he plans to seek revenge against Othello. He seeks his revenge against Othello by manipulating and lying to all of the people around him including his closest friend Roderigo, Cassio, Othello’s wife Desdemona and even his own wife Emilia. In the end, Iago’s lies and manipulation led to the deaths of Roderigo, Emilia, Othello and Desdemona. This isn’t the first time many of these individual characteristics have shown up in one of Shakespeare’s plays.
When it comes to it, Iago was a brilliant character, and a clever calculating villain. People believed Iago to be trustworthy, when in fact he wasn’t. Through this gullibility it allows him to manipulate them all. He was the main reason that this play was so interesting to me. He is the master manipulator and he was able to plant these seeds of lies into each characters head, without them realizing that he was the bad guy. In my opinion Iago is one of Shakespeare’s best characters. Othello was a great play!
Operant conditioning is a system of learning that transpires through punishment and rewards for behaviors (Kalat, 2011). Through this, a connection linking a behavior and a consequence is made. For instance a kid could be told that she will not get recess privileges if she talks in class. This possibility of being punished leads to decrease in disruptive behaviors from her. The major components of operant condition are punishment and reinforcement (Kalat, 2011).
2009 was a negative period for the United States economy. A big recession hit the country, and the founders of Google were trying to make a plan in order to make to limit the damage caused by an economic decline. Brin and Page the two creators of the giant Google were shocked form the situation that was occurring. Their company was feeling the effect of the economic downturn. Google’s stock price dropped 51 percent. The two entrepreneurs were trying to figure out a way to keep the company from drowning. Google main problem was how to maintain the culture that made the company successful in the previous two years. Some consequences that the company had to face was eliminating products that

With operant conditioning allowing to condition more complex behaviours that can be done with classical conditioning, and with classical conditioning being what helped discover operant conditioning in the first place, it can be argued here that the two are complementary. Indeed, one cannot speak of operant conditioning without mentioning classical conditioning, and vice
