The use of mobile phones for communication has proven to be one of the fastest growing mediums on the planet, it is a time where you speak as much with thumbs as you do with your tongues. Cell phone use and, in particular, the rise of texting, has become a central part of teens’ lives but also, surprisingly, a major part to the lives of the older generation. Many members of the older generations have adapted quickly to the changing pace of technology. Without skipping a beat, many people who didn’t even have a computer as a young adult, are now updating Facebook pages regularly and texting family members rather than calling. A survey published by Who 's Who in American High School Students found that 98 percent of students are cheating, whether it be copy homework or not following procedure during exams or quizzes. For example, during a test, students could have their phone in their pocket and when they get stuck or can’t answer a question it is as simple as pulling it out of their pocket and searching the internet for the answers. Mobile phones with cameras also present a large problem as they can take photos of the exams or test and send them to a fellow member of the class that may be taking the test later on or in a different class. When taking a test I can look around the classroom and find at least one person per class using there device to find or check the answer that they need. Many students will take the test out of class time so that they can go to the LAC and do the test with minimal supervision allowing them to use things such as mobile phones to get the answers correct and achieve the highest grade …show more content…

They will allow you to use your phone for a certain exercise and trust the students to use their device appropriately and in one classroom I was in at least 70% of the students checked either Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat or Twitter within the first 5 minutes that they had them out. This can also be brought down to the self-control that the student has and whether they are actually capable of going an extended period of time without checking Social Medias on their devices.
