Sequence: Use First. Sequence is very important with my day to day life, and with school assignments, which is why it is one of my Use First learning patterns. It is what holds my life together, without structure I wouldn’t be able to manage my time very well. When it comes to my personal life, I need to have my day and week laid out in front of me, I rely on my calendar and its notes to keep me on the right track. I need to keep my house clean and organized; otherwise I can not focus on anything else until it is. I feel like clutter messes with my mind, kind of like a headache messes with our head! I refer to my to-do list every morning and stick to my schedule, it is the only way I know how to manage my life. Precision: Use First. Precision is another one of my Use First learning patterns, however, I only …show more content…
Last but not least is my learning pattern I typically avoid, Confluence. Again, I am partial to the results that I got for this, after reading about it I feel like I can relate to Confluence more than I can with Precision! I have never been a real risk taker; I like to play it safe rather than to set myself up for failure. If I fail, I take it pretty hard and it makes me not want to try again for fear of failing again, depending on the situation. I’d rather not fail in the first place! Yet, I can think of certain situations where this is not true, for example when playing a game, I wont stop until I have managed to overcome the obstacle in my way. Also, while taking these quizzes for this class, I have utilized the opportunity to take the quiz again, trying to better my score from the previous attempt. However, in all of my life growing up, I would try to hide from teachers who would call out on students. I never wanted to give the wrong answer, and I’m still not very creative with my ideas. The idea of thinking outside the box just isn’t me. Give me a task, give me instructions, send me in the right direction and I can go from
In the first 30 days I feel it’s imperative that I understand what your goals and expectations are for me in a management role. I intend on building on Absolute’s mission statement and our core values of Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Compassion, Teamwork, and Continuous Improvement. My philosophy for the first 30 days is gathering data, learning about my employees and learning company policy and procedure and again follows our mission statement. I have three sections that I need to have addressed in the first 30 days.
By incorporating the theories of Piaget and Maslow into lesson planning, I can choose realistic and meaningful instructional strategies and designate assignments at the appropriate challenge level. My goal is to motivate my students to strive for their best and provide them an environment where they can successfully prepare for college and life. Mary Kay Ash was phenomenal at motivation and said it best: “Don't limit yourself. Many people limit themselves to what they think they can do. You can go as far as your mind lets you. What you believe, remember, you can achieve.” (Ash). Knowing that each class will be different and that what works for one class may not work for another will aid me in being an effective, efficient
Analyze the various processes within each of these three learning theories from a self-regulation perspective and recommend a strategy to use each theory in a professional situation in your specialization of psychology to enhance self-regulated learning.
Habit 3 is Put First Things First. Personally, I struggled with putting first things first as I was a procrastinator but, I have finally conquered myself and I am no longer in Quadrant 1! You see, there are different time quadrants which tell you if you are a 1. Procrastinator, 2. Prioritizer, 3. Yes-Man and 4. Slacker. You need to always stay on top of things and stay in quadrant 2 but it’s not easy, so you must work very hard for it to become a natural thing for you. Another way to becoming a prioritizer is to realize what your big rocks are and what your small rocks are. In other words, take notice of what is important first and those will be your big rocks to accomplish first. Only then will you have space for all the small rocks. Lastly, don’t let fear control you, control your fear. It’s okay to make mistakes if you’re trying to do the right thing. On page 121 in the 7 Habits book, Sean Covey says “Winning means rising each time you fail.” This is telling you that although you failed, if you are willing to rise and try again and pick up your broken pieces, that is winning. This is a hard habit to conquer but once you do it, it will change your
One of the most influential aspects that I learned about myself during this course was the Gallup Strength Test. On this test, I was evaluated on by answering personality questions and the results pinpointed five of my superior strengths. The test was online and required that participants choose between two option of what they though was more true about themselves. As I took the test, I found that some of the questions were difficult to choose between. At the end of the test, I discovered that my number one strength was strategy. I highly identified with this result because I enjoy planning ahead and being prepared. It also was apparent during our class retreat when we were constructing the labyrinth. As my peers and I worked together, I was making sure that the path was accurate and that our masterpiece was functional. In other aspects of my life, I find myself looking to achieve the end result by creating a plan of how to get there. For example, I was recently in a group project that was getting off to a slow start. As we were getting closer to the deadline, I contacted my group members to split up the work evenly so that we did not have to meet in person, but would still be able to complete the assignment. By taking on this role, I was able to feel comfo...
The Smart Measure test shows that that I have a logical learning style. I learn better using pie charts, and just flat out fact. When numbers and figures get put out there it draws my attention straight to it. Shockingly, I did scores three way for Physical, Social, and Verbal learning. They ere all very close o my score in logical learning. Basically, I am capable of learning in all sorts of different ways. Wehn it comes to learning I like to use a variety of techniques to ensure that I have obtained the the material that was necessary.
Learning is a process that individuals face every day, whether it is in classroom, at work, or surfing the Internet, but each person has a particular style in which they prefer to accomplish this learning. An individual’s learning style is the manner in which that person finds learning to be the easiest for them, and while many individuals have a primary style, everyone uses all the learning styles in various combinations throughout their day and life.
The first lesson that was hard for me to realize I needed to work on was Avoidance (chapter eight). I thought that I never avoided conflict, once I opened my eyes to what avoidance actually is, I realized I did it a lot. For example, with my coworker who constantly likes to mediate situations, I avoided the conversation with him to tell him how I felt because I didn't want to create a conflict with him. I finally did talk to him about it because I didn't want to avoid it any longer. Unfortunately he didn't think that he did that all the time so the conversation did not change the fact that he still does it, but I know now to not avoid conversations with him. The next thing that I realized with myself is I compete a lot, with a lot of people. I like to be in control so I learned that I don't need to be competitive with everything that I can be in control without trying to compete with people. That control factor of myself also brings my next concept of Power Currency (chapter eight) which is a resource that other people value, I used to think that it was bad for me to be the bossy control
Precision 32(use first) –Oh wow how this is so true. At home, I like to read articles and research many different things for fun. My family jokes with me about being full of useless knowledge. They say
How much is your life worth, to you? Some people measure a person’s life in terms of material gain. Others measure it in terms of experiences. A better question is to ask is not how much you are worth, but what is your purpose. A sense of purpose instills the need for a major aspect of life called progression. If a person were to take two steps forward and one step back, he or she would still find themselves moving forward. The progression may be slow, but the person will still be able to move forward. However, the process of progression can be reversed in a process called regression. One way to do this is to take only one step forward and two steps back. In this adaptation of time movement, the person would be going nowhere but backwards,
“A learning style is a way of learning and refers to the way that you learn new information” (2). Most people have one preferred learning style and perform to a lesser standard when learning in a different style than what they’re used to. Nowadays, children are told to take a quiz in school to determine what their preferred learning style is, but after a few years, not many of these children remember what their preferred learning style is, or even if they do, they don’t apply it to their learning.
There are four dimensions of preferred learning style which is, active-reflective, sensing-intuitive, visual-verbal, and sequential-global. According to the results from online learning style assessment, I find my preferred learning style is more reflective compare to active because my intensity of reflective is 5. Usually, when I have an assignment, I rather think it through first and then try to understand the outline by myself. On the other hand, active learner tend to retain and understand information by doing some active with it, for example, in this case active learner tend to like have discussion with others and then start do the task. As a reflective learner, I always think it through first when I get a task. For example, when I was
Thought out our lives, we are faced with many different learning experiences. Some of these experiences have made a better impact than others. This can be attributed to everyone’s different multiple intelligences or learning styles. A persons learning style is the method though which they gain information about their environment. As a teacher, it is our responsibility to know these styles, so we can reach each of our students and use all of the necessary methods.
When you step back and look at the big picture of life, you will notice that the concept of learning plays an essential role in it. What you learn and how you learn is your key to life success and it can open a multitude of doors for you along the way. Learning, however, is routine and much like other activities that are routine such as brushing your teeth or eating meals, you begin to think less and less about what you are doing or how you have been doing it. I never actually put too much thought into how I learned or the origins of my learning experience, but after reflecting on the ideas I have been able to clearly identify the manners in which I have learned and how I can transform my learning experience
In this essay, I will talk about the components of a lesson plan, the benefits of planning with clear and appropriate goals, selecting age-appropriate goals and objectives that align with state academic content standards, and selecting goals and objectives that are differentiated for varying abilities and learning styles and for multiple intelligences.
