Urban Survey of Vancouver
I live in downtown. It is the heart of the Vancouver. It’s always busy and there are a
lot of people on the streets most of the time. I believe that in my area everywhere you look you can see elements that identify that this is urban and is a part of Vancouver.
The most obvious elements in downtown is of course would the high buildings. These are mostly the offices of the companies that may base in British Columbia, but also outside the British Columbia’s boundaries. These building are usually tall building, some of them have the logo of the company or companies on top of the front entrance or on the top of the building. Basically, all we can see, without going inside is that men and women go in there in suits, but we know that is where the business is handled. The usual work hours for offices from 9 am to 6 pm.
I think another element would be the shopping malls and the large number of stores in Downtown area. There is a large variety of stores, no matter what you are looking for you will find it here for sure. Everything that people require to satisfy themselves, starting from clothes and ending with food. This show that this branch of the city is an important urban part.
Almost every single building in downtown area is unique and because this part of the city is one the tourist attractions, the architecture of structures here is at different level than the rest of the city.
There is a saying – “All roads lead to Rome”. In this case all roads lead to downtown Vancouver, for example: sea bus, B-line buses, sky-train. The great transportation routes are all somehow connecting to downtown. From downtown you can get anywhere in the Vancouver area and even further.
I would also like to look at the chains of stores and other service providing places, for example Safeway, London drugs, 7-Eleven etc. These companies are very rich and they have a lot of locations. They usually sell only the “necessary” and expensive stuff. The stores usually sell junk food, and it really hard to find something healthy, but if you do, you will see do that the prices are very high. Another good example would definitely be fast food restaurant or coffee shops. I think that McDonald’s and Starbucks coffee are the leaders of in their field and they have a location on every corner in Downtown.
Downtown London had the highest vacancy rate in the city space was being rented for prices between fifty cents and two dollars per meter which was lower than the average in London.
The United States first major economic recession was the Panic of 1819, which led to unemployment and a political debate over how to approach the economic plunge. This happened due to the fact that banks throughout the country failed as a result of irresponsible banking practices. American banks gave out huge loans for settlers trying to expand their land and businesses. Many of the loans the banks gave out were not formally issued. Countless Western banks were very negligent with offering discount rates on loans to clients. This led to the foreclosures of farms and widespread personal and business failures. When Americans lost most of their money people were left jobless and homeless with many businesses going under. Debates

On December 29th, 1977 a man named Ambrose Griffin was bringing in groceries from their shopping trip with his wife. On his way to their car to retrieve more of their bags, he dropped to the ground. When his wife found him, she discovered he had been shot in a drive-by. One of the victim’s sons had seen a man walking around their neighborhood with a gun in his hand. However, his gun did not match the gun used to kill Ambrose Griffin. The gun used in the shooting was a .22-caliber gun. It was soon discovered by the police that the gun used in the murder of Griffin was the same gun that was fired into the house of a woman who lived just a few streets away from the Griffin’s home. The police worked hard to find the shooter to bring justice to Griffins family but the investigation came to an end when all their leads had been exhausted.
Childhood obesity has been on the rise in the last couple of years. In the 1970’s childhood obesity was never a concern to the public until the number increased over the years. An alarming rate of 31% of all adults have been obese since they were children and the rates of childhood obesity don’t fall too behind with an 18% of children being obese. That makes almost half of obese adults and children. A child that is obese has a 70-80% higher chance of staying obese even through their adulthood if no action is taken. Childhood obesity is not something children are in control of, these children suffer from different outcomes since they can’t look after themselves and heavily rely on someone to aid them when they need it. These numbers can be drastically altered in a positive way by educating both children and parents about healthy, nutritious foods to consume, supplying schools with better lunch and healthier vending machines with healthy choices and promoting after school activities to keep children active and away from electronics.
Downtowns used to be vibrant places filled with businesses, people, and unique architecture. However, this has completely changed. Many downtowns have lost their businesses, people, and uniqueness. This is because of three things, the first one is Euclidean zoning. This separates land based on its use. This affects the variety of buildings and infrastructure in an area. Euclidean zoning assigns a purpose to a plot of land. The next thing that has led to the loss of vibrancy in downtowns is the G.I. bill, which resulted in the creation of new subdivisions throughout the US. Another factor is the Interstate Highway Act of 1956. These three things led to the creation of shopping malls. These shopping malls were built the same in different parts
This crisis was known as the panic of 1819. America was in debt to Britain for their assistance in the War of 1812. This crisis lasted 5 years, not ending until 1824. The banks were

The panic in 1893 were one of the most serious depression the country had so far experienced. This severe depression started in 1893, when the Philadelphia reading railroad, when they were not able to make loan payments which lead to bankruptcy. A couple of months later, the National Cordage Company were unable to make payments as well. This in turn lead to a stock market collapse and therefore American economy was soon interconnected. This was even more so severe since the railroads were the nation's most powerful corporate.
The banks wanted their money from the brokers. The brokers wanted their money from the customers. The only way most customers could get the money was to sell the stock, and selling the stock depressed the market even more, increasing pressure all along the line. (Judith S. The kind of questions I would ask myself are would gentrification benefit not only the people but the smaller stores who created the community? Or would it let the small businesses struggle to stand?

The world is home to many different types of communities. Each type is made of different people from various walks of life. A very popular type of community is an urban community. Generally the word urban is associated with large cities composed of vast transport systems, skyscrapers and heavy commerce that offers man different career opportunities. A key feature of urban environments is the diverse communities that it creates. This is brought about due to the dense population that large cities accumulate. Urban living is a lifestyle that starts from birth. Many people raised in an urban environment tend to spend their entire life there.
Qualitative and quantitative research methods take different approaches to gathering and analysing information. Whether it is a qualitative or quantitative study, the research study begins with a question or series of questions. Both use rigorously designed studies to get the most accurate, detailed and complete results. Qualitative studies common methods are interviews, surveys and observation. A qualitative study aims to provide a detailed description of the study results, often using pictures and written descriptions to describe what the research revealed. A qualitative study looks at the big picture, helping researchers to narrow in on points of interest that then can be followed up on in a quantitative study. While a quantitative study has a narrower focus, it attempts to provide a detailed explanation of the study focus, along with this using numbers and statistics. And the results from a quantitative study can reveal bigger questions that call for qualitative study. Or vice versa a qualitative study may reveal at analysis that a more focus and direct approach may be needed. With both methods analysis is a key part of any study whether qualitative or quantitative.
