The history of belly dancing began in Ancient Egypt around 5000 BC, but instead of belly dancing it was called Raks Sharki evidence has shown tomb paintings showing female dancers and musicians. Also, their dance was related to the worship of the fertility goddess like Hathor in Egypt. She was a famous goddess of Ancient Egypt known as “the Great One of Many Names”. This dance would be attached to fertility or sometimes performed during childbirth. I think that Egypt kind of set the grounds for belly dancing even though many people do not know where belly dancing originated from but, have many ideas. Around the world there are different dances that represent different styles and cultures. The well known dance called the Salsa, was originated in the 1970s in the Caribbean but the name was originated from New York. In the following paragraphs I will discuss the dance itself, where it is originated from, the movements of the dance, the rhythm of the dance, the venue at which it is performed and the different styles of the Salsa.

I recently tried to see a live belly dance at Aladdin Mediterranean Restaurant in West Reading. Growing up, I always thought about belly dancing as the stereotypical Eyptian woman dancing sexually in front of a group of men. Even in class when I first found out that we were going to learn about Egypt, one thing came to mind, and that was belly dancing. I was surprised by the fact that belly dancing is not anything like what I thought it was. The Palestinian dance, also known as “Dabkeh”, is one of the most well-known dances in the worldwide. The Dabkeh is performed in many countries like Palestine, Lebanon and Jordan. Each country has different Dabkeh movements than the other. Also, there are different Dabkeh songs depending on the culture and the traditions of the country. As for the Palestinian Dabkeh, it is considered the most famous dance in the Arab region and the Middle-East. It is performed in weddings, joyous occasions and cultural events. It is classified under the line dances because the dancers stand up in one line while performing. However, in some parts the dancers break the line by changing their places.

In this study, we intend to evaluate the case of political economy of development in Singapore and examine the tensions between the state and various economic institutions. In additions to examining this institution, we would also like to examine how these variables have contributed towards the attainment of favorable growth rates and economic prosperity.
