The long waits and the unknowing is what take it toll on people and can affect the youngest of the family. I feel that people now more than ever have the power to fight for what they want, it is not going to be easy, but the fact that many have tried has gatten us this far. The need for educated people to better the economic is a great one but we are not taking advantage of what we have, which is all the immigrant college graduates that can use their degrees and not have to work in job where they are treated unfairly and have no need for their major. All the work that is put into their futures by their family is gone to waste because they are unable accomplish their goals.
According to Charles Murray, “Although, in today’s society many people will assume that you’re too lazy to get that degree.” Charles Murray point is that, even though you can’t finish college doesn’t mean that you can’t be successful. A lot of people have dropped out of college and were very successful people due to motivation and guidance from others in life. In college, many students are dropping out from a lack of interest in learning. The experience of receiving a higher education can be more difficult than others. A reason in which would cause this is by no motivation or desire to learn anymore.
College education has always been seen as a gateway to making more money and living a better life. Going to college was seen as the next step that any ambitious American must take in order to make something of themselves and make their parents proud. Teachers fill their student’s heads with propaganda by telling them the only way to achieve their goal is through a proper education and with that, there is nothing they cannot do; however that is no longer the case. College takes years of diligent work and sacrifice to complete and in many cases result in the graduate being unemployed. Many people cannot handle the stress that comes with attending college and end up giving up on their dream.
Many people feel as though college is just a meaningless and a waste of time but little do they know college allows students to explore what their passionate about and making an investment for yourself. Majority of the kids that graduate from high school and go straight into the workforce it due to the fact that they don’t know what their passionate about and they don’t know what they want to do with their life. When President Obama visited Pellissippi State Community College in Knoville, Tennesse with his remarks toward Education and college he stated
By feeling that way high school graduates feel forced to attend college just so people would not criticize. We live in a society where having a Bachelor’s Degree is a big deal now and not having one means that you are not going anywhere in life. Charles argues that society is the reason why this is happening. “Today, if you do not get a Bachelor’s Degree, many people assume it is because you are too dumb or too lazy. And all this because of a degree that seldom has interpretable substantive meaning”.
If they are not given the chance and are forced to cut their education short, they will never truly reach their full potential, and to have one’s future be taken away from them because of a materialistic thing like money is frustrating. We need to pave a way for these students and future generations, like myself because these students will be the futures of our
Henry Adams, unfortunately, is a weak, rich, Bostonian who failed to pick up any leadership qualities in school and feels it is necessary to blame the school and not himself. Besides Adam's weak character it is his upper class status that deludes his philosophies of education. Adams never earned anything on his own. His acceptance to Harvard and his nomination to Class Orator were not based on his hard work or motivation. Henry Adams is poorly motivated because he never got to see for himself what one can achieve through hard work.
According to Time magazine, “22% of people can afford college, and 75% can’t afford, and family and schools differ on who should pay for it (Is College Worth It? ).” Some college students feel like college is a big waste of time, because they never really learn what they want to learn. College students have to take courses that have nothing dealing with their major just to get a general education requirement. Being a college student I have heard other students “I do not see why I have to take this class it has nothing to do with my major.” The students also gets frustrated after awhile. College prepares students with more knowledge to succeed later on in life.
The majority of these students blamed their economic status for their lack of participation in college. Obtaining a degree takes work ethic and time. There are other available opportunity’s to go to college without worrying about your economic issue. Dropping out of high school is not an option. It can ruin your open window to college.
They find out how to come independent from their parents and how to prepare for the rest of their lives. I believe that Harley Tong was simply too advanced for his surroundings. He most likely found the other students immature and didn’t fit in with them. In his case, he found a solution to attend a community college instead of his high school, which I commend him for. Many students in his situation would simply drop out, and that is not the answer.
