Set during World War II, the story follows the life of Louis “Louie” Zamperini, a former Olympic runner and pilot during World War II. Louie’s plane crashed into the Pacific Ocean in 1943 during a search and rescue mission. After being adrift in the Pacific Ocean for one month, Louie was captured by the Japanese and was sent to prisoner-of-war camps in Japan.
