Did you now that anyone can get diabetes. No one knows the exact causes of any of the types of diabetes. My goal of this paper is to show you facts on diabetes. If you, family member, or a friend gets it, or can get it you know some facts about it so you are not clueless.
First I will talk about Type 1 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is similar to Type 2 but Type 1 is most common in kids and type 2 is most common in adults. According to Mayo Clinic type 1 diabetes is a chronic condition in which the pancreas produces little or no insulin. Insulin is hormone needed to allow glucose to enter cells to produce energy. He was in his early 30s when he was diagnosed and he had learned that most people have diabetes on average of 10 years before they are diagnosed so he said he was might have been in his early 20s then. He has also learned that people that are in minority populations are more likely to become diabetic such as African-American, Native-American, Hispanic, and Asian. He said it is very difficult physically because you need insulin or pills, a diet and, exercise to control the high glucose in the blood. It is also difficult sociologically because people watch what you eat, criticize you and tell you incorrect information or information you already know. My dad also said it’s hard emotionally because you have to change your life style which is hard and frustrating to be chronically ill. Also you can’t live a normal life
Diabetes is a lifelong disease that can affect both children and adults. This disease is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States. It claims about 178,000 lives each year. Type one diabetes, also known as insulin dependent diabetes mellitus, usually occurs in people less than thirty years of age, but it also may appear at any age. Diabetes is a very serious disease with many life threatening consequences, but if it is taken care of properly, diabetics can live a normal life.
Type 1 diabetes mellitus also known as juvenile diabetes is a serious condition in which the pancreas produces a small amount or no insulin at all. Diabetes is a disease in which a person’s body in unable to make or utilize insulin properly which affects blood sugar levels. Insulin is a hormone that is produced in the pancreas, which helps to regulate glucose (sugar) levels, break down carbohydrates and fats, and is essential to produce the body’s energy. The CDC (2013) offers reliable insight, summarized here, into the different types of diabetes, some causes, and health complications that may arise from the disease.
The function of the immune system is it helps play a vital part of our everyday lives. It helps protect our bodies where ever we go. Our immune systems help defend our bodies against germs and microorganisms. The immune system is made up of various special cells, tissues, organs and proteins. This special system does an amazing job of keeping our bodies healthy and in good shape from different diseases and infections.
You can reverse diabetes and don't let anyone tell you differently. If you are borderline diabetes, pre-diabetic, type 1 or type 2, you may be able to do what nobody thought was possible 10 years ago... cure your diabetes with your diet, exercise and supplementing the right minerals, vitamins and herbs.

Type 1 diabetes will be the first case that we will discuss. People get type 1 diabetes from the body not producing enough insulin. Inside your body your immune system sees insulin as being foreign so at that point it begins attack it (University Of Miami). Most people who get type 1 diabetes get it before they turn 40 years old (Medical News Today). Type 1 diabetes is not as common as the type 2 and only 10% of people who have diabetes have type 1.
Thesis: Diabetes type 1 is different from type 2 and if given the wrong treatment it could lead to devastating consequences.
Type 1 diabetes, is an incurable but treatable disease which can occur at any age but is mostly found in children due to the high levels of glucose in the blood (Eckman 2011). Juvenile diabetes affects about 1 in every 400-600 children and more than 13,000 are diagnosed yearly (Couch 2008). Type 1 Diabetes means your blood glucose, or blood sugar, is too high. With Type 1 diabetes, your pancreas does not make insulin. Insulin is a hormone, which helps glucose gets into your cells to provide energy. Without insulin, too much glucose stays in your blood. Over time, high blood glucose can lead to serious problems with your heart, eyes, kidneys, nerves, gums and teeth (American Diabetes Association). Previous research has suggested proper insulin management, a balanced diet and exercise will help maintain glycemic control and lessen the chance of complications (Couch 2008).
As you may or may not already know, diabetes is a non-communicable disease. Learning about diabetes interests me because my grandmother and grandfather are both diabetic. I see what they go through every day with pricking their finger, injecting insulin and watching what they eat. It seems to be a hassle, but for them- it’s their life.
