To paraphrase Alexander Pope, “True ease in welding comes from art, not chance, as those move easiest who have learned to work the puddle.” The puddle is what forms when I first start a weld; however, working the puddle means controlling the weld puddle to form a consistent weld. I think college will not truly teach me how to work the puddle and will not give me the experience I want. I think technical school will truly teach me how to work the puddle and give me the best experience for the welding industry. I think college’s cost, length, job outlook, and social experience is worse versus technical school’s cost, length, job outlook, and social experience. Technical school is usually ten and a half months; however, some technical schools vary in the amount of time needed in their programs or my career choice. That is quite short compared to college. In those ten and a half months, I will get that “real world” experience or hands on experience that companies are looking for. “You will spend more time in a practical, laboratory environment learning the skills of your job at a technical school, while college students spend most of their time in the classroom”("Technical School Vs. Traditional College."). The only downside of the short schooling is I will not learn math, science, and english. College offers a chance for friendships that could last for a lifetime, but that is not what I am looking for. “This offers a better chance to social involvement and the development of strong friendship bonds” (“What Are the Benefits of College Vs. Technical School?”). Also, college offers me the chance to live on campus which is not for me. I think dorm rooms are too small and if I was to live the sorority life it would distract me from my school life. “Attending college can also provide the opportunity to enjoy a rich social life, since four-year colleges usually require you to live on campus for at least the first two years. Living in a dormitory with other students can help you make lifelong friends and business contacts once you have started your career” ("Technical School Vs. Traditional College."). The social experience of college is the best part about
