In the words of Bill Gates “any tool that enhances communication has profound effects in terms of how people can learn from each other.” Technology is a tool that is making it easier for people acquire knowledge and it is becoming an essential part of learning. Students need to be taught using methods that attract their attention. Methods such as technology make it easier for students and make for a more engaging learning experience. Technology within the classroom gives students a better chance to succeed, cuts down costs for both students and teachers, and allows students to be more engaged in class. Technology is an integral part of modern society, and its use in classrooms needs to be promoted so the learning environment is enhanced.
The use of computers in school classrooms would revolutionize the atmosphere of learning. Computer skills would prepare students for a technologically influenced future. One option is for school administrators to block certain websites. This decision would eliminate students from getting easily distracted.
Teachers are able to choose from a variety of technological platforms to enhance learning within their lessons. Your resources available will depend upon the technology selected to support, expand, and accelerate your student’s learning. One challenge educators face when selecting technology to use, is to select a technology that will enhanc... ... middle of paper ... ...e of the classroom has become an essential tool for survival in today’s world. As seen throughout this paper, there are a variety of technological tools available to reach all students, including those with specific disabilities. By implementing the use of technology to assist with increasing and meeting students’ literacy needs you are ensuring progression in both literacy and learning.
The subject of technology in the classroom has been an ongoing debate ever since computers were brought into the field of education. Today, the presence of technology has so far surpassed what educators first intended on using it for. Many educators are leaning towards the idea that technology may be vital for students’ learning and education. Technology in schooling allows students to have different opportunities than students who do not have access to technology. The use of the internet and technology in and outside the classroom benefits the new generation of children by motivating them to learn, allowing them to explore new interests not provided in school, and lastly, it enables students to be prepared for the future.
ICT enhances the teaching and learning process, traditionally teachers... ... middle of paper ... ...nable new avenues of learning for students and gives students more responsibility in their own learning and allows them the opportunity to put this knowledge into practice. These possibilities can have a positive effect on student performance and achievement. Enhanced teaching will be achieved along with better student performance. This is all relevant to the adoption of ICT in schools and sources such as PDST have very good templates and ideas as to how to effectively do this. It is dependent on sufficient resources, teacher training and content but ICT has a major impact in education today and this will only grow.
Utilizing software in the classroom will give the educator a great advantage, but technology must not be used alone. Educators must also use observation and other means to evaluate work. Technology is faster and more accurate, but technology is not always reliable. Technology can aid educator’s assessments of the knowledge learned by their students. New types of technical “assessments offer the potential to understand more than whether a student answered a test question right or wrong” (Tucker, 2009, p. 1) during an exam.
Technology not only enhance the students’ learning process, it also help teachers get their work done quickly and efficiently. Technology must be integrated into the learning curriculum in order to improve the overall performace a the students. Technology is here to stay; therefore, we need to harvest its benefits. The government knew how important technology was; therefore, in 1983, it enforced a computer sciene course to the public school system. According to Marc Prensky, today’s students are “digital natives” and older adults are “digital immigrants.” Young students are born into a world with the high usage of computures, tablets, and smart phones; while older adults grew up in an environment of changing technology.
Imagine school without computers. Without them, school and learning would be remarkably different. Over the years, computers have really changed school systems. More and more schools are using computers today and it’s changing the way students are being taught. Computers improve learning and teaching by making it more beneficial, more efficient and more motivating for not only the students but also the teachers.
It allows them to master basic skills at their own rate rather than being left behind. Teachers and students alike can connect to real life situations by using technology in the classroom; this can also help to prepare students for real world situations. Technology can be used to motivate students as well as to offer more challenging opportunities. It can also be used as a visualization tool to keep students interested in the subject that is being taught. When technology is used effectively, students have the opportunity to develop skills that they may not get without the use of technology (Cleaver, 2011).
Classrooms have become more interactive and lessons seem to be more engaging. Students have been given the opportunity to use Smart Boards, document cameras, projectors, and wireless slates. In order for our students to feel comfortable, when using the different technologies, they must have some amount of background knowledge. If a student is not given this background knowledge, they will have more difficulty utilizing the technology than someone who has the background knowledge. Teachers in classrooms today must also have some type of knowledge of the technology being used.
