Topic: Transgendered Individuals in the Workforce Douglas Napier 04/24/18 Question: How are transgendered individuals discriminated against in general?
Prediction: Transgendered Individuals are discriminated against, and treated poorly because they’re deviant and break social norms.
Independent Variable: Quality of life
Dependent Variable: Whether the person is Transgender or not.

A shockingly high percentage of transgender people are harassed in the workplace, some even being fired for being transsexual. In an ideal scenario, everyone would be born in the bodies they want, without needing anything to change, however, that is only a scenario. There are multiple people in the world who do not like their bodies, and their gender, wanting to get changed. People who are known to be transgender are heavily discriminated and harassed in the workforce. As a society we naturally deter people who break social norms, and anything that is deviant.

Transgendered individuals are often receive delayed healthcare for fear of discrimination. In a study about Transgender Non-inclusive Healthcare and Delaying Care Because of Fear, it states that transgendered individuals who receive delayed health care, generally had worse physical and mental health than those who weren’t delayed. Statistics show that Transgender individuals have “3.08% greater odds of having current depression, 3.81% greater odds for a past year suicide attempt, and 2.93% greater odds of past year suicidal ideation.” (ncbi.nlm.nih.gov) Secondly, transgender people have an inherently lower access to healthcare, because some Physicians reject them.
