Motivation.
Development approaches the individual and employees’ motivation from a
different angle from that of training. While training is typically
concerned with enabling the individual to contribute to meeting the
objectives of the organization better, personal development is more
concerned with enabling individuals to develop themselves in the way
that best suits individual needs. The two, it is hoped, will come
together. By helping individuals to develop themselves, they will be
more inclined and better able to contribute to helping the
organization meet its objectives.
It is important to stress that the process of linking performance and
training and development the process of appraisal and other forms of
evaluation should be closely linked to training and development. If
the organizations to achieve its objectives, it is essential to train
and develop its people so they are best able to support the
organization in working towards objectives. At the same time the
individual needs to have the opportunity to be able to communicate
employees’ own personal development needs to the organization through
appraisal or personal development planning schemes.

From July 1st to July 3rd, 1863, the most famous and most important Civil War Battle took place in the small town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The Confederates under Robert E. The battle of Gettysburg occurred over three hot summer days, July 1 to July 3, 1863, around the small town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. It began as a meeting engagement, but by its end involved approximately 170,000 Americans. The battle is considered to be the turning point in the American Civil War and is one of the most studied battles in American history. The events that took place at Gettysburg had a tremendous impact on the outcome of the Civil War and the fate of the United States.
Both forces were moving towards Pennsylvania, when they converged upon Gettysburg. General Lee decided to take the fighting to Northern soil, and moved his troops to Maryland. While heading north, the two forces converged at Gettysburg, and the fighting began soon thereafter. After news of the fighting, General Meade arrived on the battlefield on the second day of battle..

The use of the six principles of training by a 100m sprinter would greatly improve the athlete’s performance. This is because the progressive overload, specificity, reversibility, variety, training thresholds and warm up/cool down principles all greatly affect the performance of any athlete. The principles of training can be employed in order to improve all aspects of fitness, from flexibility to strength and aerobic endurance.

thought of as a violent act to spark rapid change, but Herzl proved this otherwise. Herzl could be seen as a reformist, he realized that the Jews could try to assimilate but would fail no matter what. Herzl was not a typical reformist, he was not violent nor did he want to start wars, or revolution. Herzl wanted to show the Jews as a peaceful, patience group who just wanted fairness in society. This is an apparent characteristic of Herzl because he fought the correct way for Dreyfus, instead of resorting to violence or radical reform.
The Little Oxford English Dictionary (2006), defines motivation as “the reason for your actions or behaviour”. Similarly, motivation is defined as “the reasons underlying behavior” (Guay et al., 2010, p. 712). In Gredler, Broussard and Garrison (2004), motivation is “the attribute that moves us to do or not to do something” (p. 106). This means that motivation is perceived as the drive to accomplish tasks or the very reason the tasks are not being done properly. It is basically what makes a person put or choose not to put in their effort when completing work. Motivation is the combination of what a person believes in, what he or she values, how a person perceives a certain given situation, what a person likes or dislikes
The development planning process “refers to a system to retain and motivate employees by identifying and helping to meet their development needs” (Noe, 2013). This process can be used in the internal hiring process. When brining internal employees into the supervisor training program this process will motivate the employees so they will continue to grow within the company. The morale of the overall company will improve when employees are chosen internally for the supervisor training program. This process has four steps to it; they are self-assessment, reality check, goal setting, and action planning. Self-assessment identifies the improvement that is needed from the employee. The company can provide testing that shows the strengths, weaknesses, interest, and values of the employee. Reality check is when the employee determines which of the needs can be developed realistically. The company can create a performanc...
Performance appraisal is perceived by most as a tool to reward or penalize employees for their good or bad work respectively by the end of a year. This notion is a challenge in itself to deal with. The whole exercise becomes dull for both supervisors and their subordinates and they tend to look at it as an additional responsibility which they have to finish. In the end, there is little or no value addition for either the employee or the organization. There are, however, better ways of looking at and conducting performance appraisals. It can give much needed feedback to both performers and laggards to improve upon and if done properly can even boost their motivation. More importantly, they provide a chance to employees to have a say in their goal setting and thus aligning it with the departmental and organizational goals. Also, the process itself has a value in team making.

Superiors at P&G are encouraged to train and help in the development of their subordinates. P&G’s performance appraisals are based on the Work and Development plan (W&DP) that P&G has globally across all functions. The W&PD has four components: (1) Previous year’s plan versus the results, (2) Areas for further growth and development, (3) Near-term and long-term career interests, and (4) Development and training plan for the next year.
On the basis of the identified needs, we can set goals on when to develop those skills, what are our intended results and the strategies to achieve them. My personal and professional development plan on the basis of the identified development needs is as follows:
Performance management is used for the basis of promotion, reduction in force purposes (talent management), gives transparency of what an organization is looking for, merit increases, and lastly it provides protection against lawsuits for unlawful termination by keeping written documentation. Performance evaluations are advantageous to both the organization and the employee. A leading advantage of performance evaluations is it gives the employee an opportunity to create and achieve smart goals. Although performance evaluations primary function is to measure whether an employee is a good fit or a bad fit for the organization, its function is so much a broader. Performance management is tool purposely used to motivate employees to examine themselves and determine if they have selected the profession that is best for them; consequently the feedback an employee receives from their superior supports them with increase their knowledge and
