What is the process of achieving a perfect traffic planning system that contributes to a smooth flow in transportation? Whenever the issues that most countries face on their way are discussed, traffic jam is the first issue that looms on the horizon. Traffic Congestion can be clearly defined as a physical phenomenon in which cars block the traffic movement due to many factors. This phenomenon poses a huge challenge for most of the developed and developing countries. That’s why it is the job of traffic plan engineers, a branch of Civil Engineering, to set a strategic vision from different perspectives that manages this issue in such a way that reduces its overall effect on the society. Consequently, Traffic congestion usually takes on different aspects, arise in many cases and caused multi alternative processes. In general, three phases might be taken into consideration for achieving a transportation system that contributes in overcoming traffic congestions: expanding and restoring roadways, developing modern tunnels and bridges, and last but not least, manufacturing subways system. The first phase for any country to achieve a smooth flow of traffic movement, and one of the most effective steps, is the expansion and the restoration of the existing roadways .However, Expansion of Roads is not that easy to be done. It requires a great effort, whether from engineers or workers that carry out this expansion. According to Claitor (2003), road planning engineers look through the manifestations of general movement situations. They develop more secure conditions by creating roadways that lead to a smooth moving stream. Therefore, traffic engineers do not just design and carry out a certain project, but they spend most of the time on takin... ... middle of paper ... ...ic issues because once the people reliance on cars is reduced, traffic problems will be reduced as well. Regardless of the role that subways play in solving traffic problems , subways are safe, healthy, and accessible by everyone. This step was taken by mighty developed countries such as Turkey ,and showed extraordinary results. That’s why constructing subways is the complimentary step and the finishing touch for the previous steps. All in all, the three steps that were mentioned must be taken in sequence because each phase flattens the way for the other. Besides, these steps were taken by mighty countries whether developing or developed countries and resulted in improving these countries’ situations from different aspects. And remember that traffic congestion can be very prejudicial in preventing a certain country from progressing if there is no shift taken.
