Powered toothbrushes are becoming increasingly popular among the general population, and there are many models on the market from which to choose. Based on analysis of market for powered (electric) toothbrushes has grown exponentially in recent years, and consumers are asking dental professionals, on a regular basis. Although there is a wealth of data in the PTB literature, there is by no means unequivocal certainty regarding the best design of PTBs. Finally, it is important to mention the concept of equivalence that has rarely been applied to toothbrush studies and, in particular, those involving PTBs.
