Problem: Many of the standard personal care products available to consumers are laced with chemicals and ingredients known to harm individual health as well as the environment. Savvy consumers are not only increasing the expectation of products that are in line with health conscious and ethical value systems, the global business community also recognizes the expectation of corporate social responsibility to stakeholders. The company has earned recognition as one of the “World’s Most Admired Companies” (CSR Newswire, 2013), as well as awards for environmental stewardship (PR Newswire, 2006). The socially responsible corporate model grew out of the 1950’s beginnings of increasing stakeholder concern for environmental and social problems and has developed into a critical business model and proven factor to the success of a company (Barić, 2017).Tom’s Of Maine was founded with the intention of providing personal health care products that were made of natural ingredients, and that were free of artificial sweeteners, preservatives, flavors, colors, and chemicals, thus safer for consumers and reducing stress of the environment.
