(E) Chapter Four: To the Grave, We Grieve

I woke up screaming in a cold sweat. My hands flew to my face and then my stomach. Breathe. Just breathe Darcie. I let out a long breath and sunk backwards, my back hitting the headboard. I winced a little.
Same exact thing again. Every little detail. Will it ever change? I glance over at the clock.
Wow, I slept more than usaul. I knew that I wouldn't go back to sleep, yet I didn't want to get out of bed.
The pounding in my heart dulled down to a light thump.
Thump. Thump. Thump.
I listened for a few moments, taking in deep breaths, calming my heart even more.
The quietness overflowed in the room. All I could hear was the sound of my breathing. I couldn't even hear my heartbeat anymore. I groaned. I can't sit here like this, I'm going to drive myself insane.
I threw the covers off of me and strolled into the bathroom, flipping on the light. My eyes squinted, slowly adjusting to the light.
I turned around and surveyed myself in the mirror.
The dark rings under my eyes were lighter, my bed head wasn't as bad as usaul. I smiled faintly.
I decided to take a shower, I felt gross. Also, it helps wash away the feeling of terror still left after reliving the nightmare, again. The shower makes me feel fresh and new.
I spun the dials until the temperature was perfect, I peeled off my clothes and climbed in. The hot water enclosed around me. I breathed the steam in and enjoyed the feeling of relaxation for once in my life.
I spent a long time in the shower, never wanting to leave. I didn't want to lose this content feeling, but nothing can last forever.
Nothing can last forever.
I reluctantly turned off the shower and climbed out. I grabbed a towel off the rack and wrapped...

I tuned her out. I couldn't hear anything. Nothing, but a high pitched ringing in my ears.

Suddenly I lose any apitite I had. I feel like I'm going to faint. My stomach feels like someone punched me in the gut.
I can't breathe.
The plate in my hand falls and hits the ground, shattering into a bunch of tiny pieces.
