A new era started when mobile handsets manufactures began to think about introducing more capabilities for their devices, the post-PC era was coming. The post-PC era started when the same services that computers could offer such us web browsing were included in smartphones, when the new millennium arrived, the 2000s, the smartphone industry took advantage over the huge PC industry (PCMag.com, 2014).
As manufacturers decided to offer more productivity options to consumers in software hand to hand with more powerful hardware, satisfying the consumers became a major concern for these companies. Being Android the most used operating system of our time the research question “To what extent do Android OS custom ROMs benefit the final users and Google as the system developer company?” is focused on exploring the way users found a way of getting what they want at any cost, in this case a better user experience without losing the main capabilities provided by Google as the system developers, and how both parts, users and Google, can get the best and also be affected by the growth of custom ROM developing.
It is substantial knowing how Android and its large user community, as Google, is affected by the fact of these system being open source and the way manufacturer make clients feel satisfied with their handset offerings, and in the same way how can both be largely benefited by the same causes.
III. Android Operating System and its History
Android is a mobile operating system based on the Linux kernel, it has a marketshare of approximately the 80% being the most used mobile operating system now (Banerjee, 2013). Android was first developed by Android, Inc in 2003 founded by Andy Rubin. Almost two years later Google, Inc boug...

There are a large number of competitors present in Smartphone industry serving to lower income group to niche segment consumers. Life of a product in this industry has reduced to a large extent relying largely on R&D to match with the emerging trends. The price of a Smartphone is decreasing whereas the purchasing power of buyer is increasing. There is also huge competition between Ios, Windows, and Android at the OS
Not long ago computers were non-existent in many homes. When computers were first introduced to the world, they were for the sole purpose of performing business functions. The only people who owned computers were large organizations. Eventually, computers were introduced into the homes of those who could afford to buy them. Today, just about everyone owns some form of system that they use daily to help manage their day-to-day operations. What many once survived without now seems impossible to do without. As technology continues to grow, it has a greater effect on families and the education system. Some companies such as Microsoft and Apple made it possible to reinvent a new form of technology that would change the world. Each company had some form of struggle and overtime had to keep up with the changes of time and the way people communicated. From the first day of its invention, organizations have had to steadily implement new operating systems to keep up with the demands of the people while staying afloat with competitors. The ways of life for many have changed as well as the way people communicate. It is evident that the history and uses of computers have changed the world but these computers could not perform without the operating systems. Various operating systems will be discussed, how they began and how they each changed since they were first introduced. Although, they all had a purpose each varied in how they performed and changed the lives of many and will continue in the near future.
This paper discusses about the historical event that takes place within the operating system and their recent development and progression. Therefore it is essential to have a clear comprehension on the operating system that is still accessible to recognize its fundamental strengths and weaknesses. Hence, it is imperative to evaluate the operating system we are reviewing to distinguish between them. Meanwhile, this paper also inspects on the difference between the open source and proprietary operating system. The discussion is mainly about the feature and application used in different operating system.
Before the introduction of Apple Technologies, PC’s and Androids were the most well-known products on the technological market, and that soon changed once Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak introduced their new toy to the public. Their “toy” will change the world forever weather they knew it or not.
Apps are somewhat hard to make because of software differences, they have a simpler code, which creates less time to make. The products that the software covers are also apart of their credibility as a brand. iOS covers the product line of apple which includes Macbooks, iPads, iPhones, and iWatch. While android covers a larger base of products, they lack the software reliability from their users of product. Samsung is a great example of this problem with recent blowing up of their products, which doesn 't only affect their brand name but also the software that backs up the product.
... the long term we see that the competition between Google and Apple will benefit all of us. Apple has maintained its effective and definitive standards. It has no competitor in the last seven to eight years. It has dominated the market with distinction. On the other hand Google has been focusing on open standards. This is the reason that the publishers changed their minds in the smart phone industry. (Imbimbo, 15)
...This frontier has reaped major benefits for their competitors in the Android market with a wide range of products targeting all income groups. Apple has begun the foray into developing products for lower income groups with the production of the iPhone 5c which is priced cheaper than it’s flagship product the iPhone 5s. A further advancement in that direction would reap major benefits for Apple. This second concern deals with a mixture of place and product in the marketing mix. Apple offers its operating system exclusively to Apple products and its unquestioned the success of that strategy, however, it must be said there exists a potential and real prospect of complete Apple domination of the software industry if it were to allow its operating system to float onto to other hardware providers in much the similar manner in which Microsoft has benefited greatly from.
When searching for the latest device you have a choice between apple, and android. These two are similar but very different. Infact these both have two different operating systems. For instance Apple uses IOS 9, apple phones can use this software. On android the software 5.0 is used. All these phones run different programs, you need to make sure that is the right phone for you. There are many different features and styles of phones you can get. Also these all come at a price. This paper will talk about all these topics to make sure you have an idea on what device you would like to buy.
Technology has become a huge part of everyday life, and people seem to have one great debate and are fighting over which is the best phone, iPhone or Android. The Apple iPhone is a cellular smartphone that was created and is maintained by Apple Inc. Android is another type of smartphone that is accessible to consumers, but the operating system is powered by Google and many different companies produce Android devices. The different operating systems and interfaces have created a long and carried out debate to which was superior. iPhone is the better phone and there are many reasons as to why it is superior to its rival, Android. The iPhone’s sleek and beautiful design has users’ hands fondling the device and never putting it down. The operating system is very distinct, but is straightforward with its functionality. People who purchase the iPhone believe that they have received their money’s worth and more when owning and iPhone. The iPhone is better than Android when compared because of the beautiful design and attractive display, the operating system and its functionality, and the device’s personal worth is definitely worth the money spent to own one.
Steve Jobs hated Android and once called it a “stolen” product — a ripoff of the iPhone.
Have you ever wanted a phone that is personalized for you? Android was released in 2008, a year after the iPhone. In 2015, there are 2.5 billion Android users worldwide, compared to roughly one billion iPhone users. Android is better than iPhone because of customization, variety, and design. Firstly, Android is vastly customizable.

Android is an operating system which is used in smart phones. It is an open source software. That is the code is available under the apache license freely for moderation and distribution by device manufacturer. As we know android is the open source software so manufacture modifies it according to their needs and requirements of the user perspective. In 2007 first time android was intended and first time it was...
Instead of asking customers what features they thought they might like to have in a mobile phone, Steve Jobs was the market researcher for Apple. His innovative thought process and realizing he was creating a product that people would want, allowed him to ask himself every morning what he wanted in the current device in design (Gobble, 2012). Arriving at the Apple office he would pass along his idea and the engineers were then expected to incorporate the idea into the device. Instead of creating brand new products, Jobs and Apple excelled at taking half conceived ideas and rebuilding them into products that are done properly and in a way the consumer wants (Gobble,
Mobile application is a very aggressive market, there are hundreds of platforms to choose from when designing applications. There are several platforms that currently dominate over other platforms. The Android platform is very popular, it’s one of the most preferred platforms for building applications. Most of its applications are built using JAVA software, but there are others software that are just as equal or greater. Java software is free and offer a free software development kit. The kit consists of sample applications, source codes, developer tools, and emulators...
