In To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee uses Atticus to provide the lesson that it is better to take the high road and win a fight with intelligence instead of violence. This is seen when Atticus says to Scout “No matter what anyone says to you, don’t let them get your goat. Try fighting with your head for a change . . . it’s a good one, even if it does resist learning” (Lee 87).
