There are many “stealers of time” or time management issues, that I will probably have to contend with, during my Access to HE course and beyond into degree work, and ultimately any career I choose to enter. Indeed, all aspects of life require us to effectively manage or organise ourselves according to what we want to achieve in a given amount of time. Much of my study is spent at home, and as such I am prone to many possible interruptions, primarily from family, having four children, two of whom are under six years old, and the day-to-day problems that this obviously presents. Even as I began writing this, my five year old son needed to be taken to the doctors, which is just one example of how family life can have an effect on the time needed to study. Fortunately I have an understanding partner, whom I can delegate many of the day-to-day problems to, but I do have commitments that at certain times, e.g. Looking after my children when my partner goes work, that cannot be avoided.
