In a land far far away a farmer plowed his land with a small and weak hoe that his deceased father had given him. The farmer’s name was Andrew but most people called him Andy. He lived in a small shack with dirt floors, concrete walls, and a straw roof. It had a tiny window that was just big enough to see his small amount of land and provide some light for his stubborn mother, who also lived with him. Andy’s mother was on her death bed, just waiting for a secret potion that would cure her. The problem was that it was too expensive for a poor and common farmer to own. The only things that were keeping Andy’s mother alive were herbs that he found in the mountains near his house.
One day, Andy was going up the mountain to find herbs for his mother. Just he was about to bend down to pick the herbs, a roar came from behind him. He turned slowly to discover that a mountain tiger was only five feet behind him. He looked into its big brown eyes and saw nothing but pain and sadness. The tiger opened its jaw wide and revealed a small piece of bone jammed between its two bad teeth. The tiger expressed its concern
“I can’t get this bone out with my huge paws”
The tiger was anxious and was in serious need of help. Andy saw the long white bone one more time. It seemed like a goat’s bone. As Andy put his hand toward its mouth, he paused. Andy feared that after he removed the bone, he would become the tiger’s next meal, but the tiger looked so sad and hurt and was gagging; Andy took a pity on the tiger and took out the bone.
After Andy removed the pesky bone, the tiger seemed comfortable and delighted. When the tiger was about to thank him, Andy had come to the realization that he was talking to a vicious and furious tiger and quickly ran down...

...e was the one who was making a commotion in the town. The tiger said that he overheard Andy say that he needed money and the tiger wanted to help him for the last time. The tiger said to Andy to kill him and bring him to the king. But Andy couldn’t kill his friend. He told the tiger to leave the village. The tiger told him that he was going to die anyway because of his old age. The tiger said that he would rather die by helping Andy than alone. Right then and there the tiger shut his eyes and they never opened again. Andy brought the tiger to the king and, the king rewarded Andy with a fortune and was able to cure his mother. The kind also asked where the tiger should be buried and Andy replied at the spot where they first met. Thanks to the tiger, Andy didn’t have to worry about anything ever again. He made a shrine so Andy could visit the tiger's grave every day.
It was a village on a hill, all joyous and fun where there was a meadow full of blossomed flowers. The folks there walked with humble smiles and greeted everyone they passed. The smell of baked bread and ginger took over the market. At the playing grounds the children ran around, flipped and did tricks. Mama would sing and Alice would hum. Papa went to work but was always home just in time to grab John for dinner. But Alice’s friend by the port soon fell ill, almost like weeds of a garden that takes over, all around her went unwell. Grave yards soon became over populated and overwhelmed with corpse.

When Sheila was six years old she was sent to the school where Torey was working. Sheila had a very harsh childhood. At the age of four she was abandoned by her 18 year old mother on a highway late at night. A year or so later, She was sent to live with her father in a migrant camp. While she was there, she was abused by her uncle and her father's friends. Sheila had awful personal hygiene and little schooling, although she was very bright. Another incident that occurred was when she was six years old Sheila abducted a three year old boy from his yard. She led him into the woods and set fire to him. Once she was enrolled in Torey's class, they developed a close relationship that went beyond the classroom. Torey cleaned Sheila up and worked and spent time with her in and out of school. Torey realized that Sheila had a remarkably high IQ. June soon came around and Sheila was advancing to the 3rd grade and Torey was going to a different school to teach in a different city. Torey lost touch with Sheila over the years. She never wanted to leave her but everyone told her, and she realized, that it was just a teacher/student relationship and like all the others, it had to come to an end with the end of the school year.
Furthermore, is a summarization of the main points in “The Black Cat.” “The Black Cat” is about a man who always loved animals since he was little, but as he aged he started drinking. He then tortured his favorite pet cat, Pluto after he was getting annoyed with his presence. He goes as far as gouging out its eye before he hangs it in an old tree. Later on, his house burnt down and the outline of the cat was left on the only standing wall left by the fire. After he and his wife get a new home, they soon found a new cat that looked just like the old one except it had white around its neck. The narrator starts to believe that the cat is mocking him, so one day he tries to kill the cat but his wife interferes, and he ki...

Sensing the narrator’s recent moods and witnessing the abuse of the other animals in the home, Pluto decided to avoid his master one night after he had spent a particularly long night at the local bar. The narrator doesn’t like this very much and attacks Pluto like an attention deprived girlfriend who has reached her breaking point. Pluto, not able to do anything else and probably relying on instinct alone, sinks his teeth into his master’s flesh. The narrator likens what happens next to a demon possessing him. In an uncontrollable fury, he takes out a pocket knife and carves Pluto’s eye o...

This whole village reeks of death. The next door neighbors' mother passed away after seven long days of battling
“Death came in the form of a pneumatic nail gun that was placed against their heads and fired. The gun is designed so that the nail never completely leaves the gun, but simply is blown into the animal's head and then pulled out by the butcher as the animal co...
The presence of the two cats in the tale allows the narrator to see himself for who he truly is. In the beginning the narrator explains that his “tenderness of heart made him the jest of his companions”. (251) He also speaks of his love for animals that has remained with him from childhood into manhood. However, Poe contradicts this description of the narrator when he seems to become annoyed with the cat that he claims to love so much. While under the influence of alcohol the narrator is “fancied that the cat avoided his presence”(250) and as a result decides to brutally attack the cat. This black cat symbolizes the cruelty received by slaves from whites. The narrator not only “deliberately cuts one of the cats eyes from the sockets” (250) but he also goes on to hang the cat. Once the narrator successfully hangs the cat the tale begins to take a very dark and gothic-like turn. The racism and guilt of the narrator continues to haunt him once he has killed the black cat. Death is a nebulous, inescapable force that everyone must confront and learn to deal with in some way. In The Tiger’s Wife, Death is everywhere, in the near constant fighting and dangerous remainders of several wars. For “The Tiger’s Bride”, however, Death remains just outside the scope of the story, brushing along the edges of our awareness but never put plainly before us like the many corpses of Obreht’s novel. Or at least it seems this way until we recognize The Beast as more than just a tiger making play at humanity, that he is instead Death manifested in flesh and fur. If, then, the tiger is Death given physical form, what does this mean for The Tiger’s Wife? Even here, the tiger is tied to imagery of Hell, devils, and Death. It open for
