Biography of Thomas Edison Many when they think of Thomas Edison the first thing that pops up into their mind is that he is the man who invented the light bulb. The thing is, he didn’t really invent it. There was actually many people trying to create a way of light. He was just the first who successfully made it work and found a better way to do it. He had so many other projects and inventions. He actually had 1,093 license for his inventions. There is a lot to tell about Thomas Edison. He is most known for the light bulb. Some of his other inventions include the talking doll, phonograph, and motion picture cameras. He was incredibly intelligent and made a lot of things come true. Although many were already working on trying to create another way to modernize their way of light. He found an efficient, and better way to create it. It took Thomas Edison and his team four years to make that happen. They had 85 customers in New York City, the number changed rapidly. It was a way to get a recording sound onto fragile wax figures. This was invented in 1877. Since the phonograph could record voice and music, this was a step closer to the talking doll. Thomas’s talking doll wasn’t the best thing in the world. It was taken off the shelves after a few weeks. The problem with the doll was the sound was not clearly. The nursery songs were barely recognized because of it’s terrible quality. These dolls now have become very rare and now very valuable. In 2012, a man payed $25,100 for one of Edison’s doll. The motion picture camera was another invention Thomas Edison is greatly known for. Not only did he invent the technology but also hundreds of short films. Actually in 1890 he pushed himself into making a viewing instrument which lead to the first silent film in 1904. He worked on the technology with William Dickenson from 1888 to 1893.
