They should be closed on THANKSGIVING By Karson L. They should move Black Friday or close it on Thanksgiving because more people should go on the internet so not as many people get harmed and you should also think about the workers lives and there are better sales near Christmas anyways. Even though Black Friday is a very popular (almost holiday) you might want to think that workers have lives too, also Thanksgiving because it is one of the most important holidays ever, so they should either move back Black Friday or close Black Friday on Thanksgiving.
Why are they still pulling Black Friday in Thanksgiving, first you are being grateful for what you have then you are getting trampled to get a phone 50% off the next or same day. I think that Black Friday should get pushed back to the next Friday. You

Near Christmas they have better sales so hold your money back and wait to buy toys and other stuff anyways in Black Friday the things that they are selling for really cheap might not be as good as you think because in a year there was Apple IPhones that were for sale for Black Friday that were made with worse stuff than the original one. Most stuff that is for sale might just be from last year supplies so it could be worse than this year's sale so it would be bad to see “YAY a Xbox is for sale,” but it isn’t the Xbox 1 that you are looking for so when you are shopping you will be disappointed. You should just internet shop and you won’t be as disappointed but all the people that ship should not be open either because they have lives too so they should be closed on Thanksgiving.
So why do people even try to get the people to come they should make it the law that they can’t open Black Friday on Thanksgiving so that we don’t lose Thanksgiving and replace it with Black Friday so let’s end the moving of Black Friday. We should move Black Friday back not forward and make sure that one of the most important holidays doesn’t come to an
Federated, and department stores in general, encompass a huge portion of not only American history but also the American economy. Fred Lazarus, former president of the present day Lazarus-Macy’s, was even responsible for the changing of the Thanksgiving holiday to the fourth Thursday in November. Lazarus suggested this to President Roosevelt in 1939 in order to give consumers more shopping days between Thanksgiving and Christmas thereby improving economic efficiency. Federated also operates the largest store in America, the Macy’s flagship in Manhattan, and sponsors the annual Thanksgiving Day parade. Without retail stores like Federated, America would not only lose a substantial amount of history, but the backbone of our economy.
Chain stores, such as K-Mart and Wal-Mart swing their doors wide for all deal seekers at around 6 a.m. Individuals will wake up earlier than necessary, drive to these stores, and camp out prior to the stores opening, if only just to ensure they get the best spot in line. Also near this time, various online deals begin. This means before many people wake up on Thanksgiving morning, sales have already started both in store and online. By this standard, the day’s workers have to get to the store hours before it opens to prepare the store for the surplus of people and the chaos that will soon enfold. People should be getting rest or preparing food for their lunches or dinners, but instead they are shopping or working. Retailers place priority on shopping from the moment people wake up until they go to sleep. There is never an emphasis on family throughout the entire day in these chain stores. The madness occurs throughout the entirety of both days, causing lack of family time in both days of the holiday for patrons and
Thanksgiving is a holiday in the United States, which is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November every year. Although the way holidays are celebrated over time, thanksgiving has always been a holiday feast. However, Thanksgiving is more than just eating food together with your family. For instance, some families do charity work for the poor people and create a Thanksgiving dinner for them, other family’s watch sport in addition to the food that they eat together. One part that is common at almost every Thanksgiving dinner is the type of food that is served. Families in the United States have celebrated Thanksgiving for hundreds of years, but the way it is celebrated has slightly changed from the first Thanksgiving. To be able to explain
Thanksgiving is a time to get together with your family and have a nice dinner. Then you play games, catch up, and watch movies. Thanksgiving is the time to be grateful for what you have. But wait; now you had to start dinner earlier and cut out catching up with your family. Now it’s time to get ready to go shopping for those deals you just can’t beat. Forget about being thankful for what you have; now it’s time to buy all the things you don’t have. Has Thanksgiving been taking over by Black Friday, or should we now be calling it Black Thursday? Stores should only be able to open after 12 am on Black Friday.
Since 2012, Walmart employees at several locations across the United States have rallied to strike on Black Friday in an effort to protest against the low wages and for better work hours (Jamieson, 2014). Workers claim that the hours
During fall, the leaves fall, the temperature drops, and people sit around a table and say what they are thankful for. While we are consuming pounds of turkey and stuffing, the Pilgrims are to thank for the annual feast. Because the meaning of this holiday is to not stuff your face with endless amount of carbs, we should be reminded of how grateful we are for what we own. Thanksgiving was a very memorable time in U.S. history.
Thanksgiving is undoubtedly a holiday to celebrate family. It also celebrates many other things, as the name suggests. Thanksgiving is a holiday to give thanks for the things that a person has rather than to wish for more things. Accomplishments and shiny cars are not part of the essence of Thanksgiving, as these do not have the inherent humbleness expected of the holiday. This air of humility and frugality, harkening back to the days of the pilgrims and Native Americans, is probably what lead Ellen Goodman to describe the holiday as a suppressing of individualism. However, the rift between individuality and family that Goodman describes in Thanksgiving is not as deep as she makes it seem, and Thanksgiving Day is hardly the only day of the

Thanksgiving is a national holiday that is celebrated in the United States. It is celebrated once a year on the fourth Thursday in November. This is a day that families gather together with one another, and in most homes a roast turkey is served with gravy and several other common dishes such as, mashed potatoes, baked potatoes, fresh corn, oyster stuffing, bread stuffing, cranberry stuffing, fruit, cranberry sauce, salad, rolls, corn bread, vegetables of all sorts, apple pie, cherry pie, pumpkin pie and many other things.
It is seen in everything from the hoarding of material objects to the destruction of friendships, both of which are popular themes when regarding the topic of Black Friday shopping. Black Friday has become Black Thursday, a trend which has only shown up within the last decade. The great American holiday that is Thanksgiving is celebrated because of our gratefulness toward all that we have, a holiday that is meant to be spent gathered around a table of our loved ones. However, the retail holiday that consumes the day afterward has begun to overflow into our gatherings, and it is due to the greed of the American people. Were it not for the market’s demand for earlier sales, stores would not open their sales on Thursday nights. Everyone would simply wait until early the next morning to start off on their shopping extravaganzas, and the sales themselves would likely be far less violent as
Black Friday, in the United States, is the Friday after thanksgiving and one of the most successful days for retailers. It takes place between 23rd and 29th November, varying each year.
In fact, they have fun on the day because they love the atmosphere through Christmas songs and illuminations. Christmas is thought by many people to be the most wonderful time of the year. Winter snow, Christmas tree, decorations and Santa Claus are very important things which makes us happy and think that it is the most beautiful day of all the year. Everybody waits for the day because it has various meanings for different people. Moreover, they can see beautiful illuminations and listen to Christmas songs in cities or downtown. However, some adults who are parents need to spend money for buying many gifts for children. In the United States, parents generally purchase the gifts on a Black Friday. It is good for them to get their presents on the day because they more discounts on that day than other
Grant, L. (2004, October 11). Wal-Mart doesn’t plan to toy much with prices; last year’s cuts hurt other retailers and left giant thinking it slashed too much. Proquest Document. USA Today. Pg B8.
The holidays, the time of year to spend time with family and enjoy many joyous traditions. While the winter holidays are one of the most beautiful times of the year, it is also extremely hectic. The closer we get to December 25th, the more urgent it becomes to find that perfect gift, at the perfect price. That need for that marked down price tag has caused many large retailers to create Black Friday. However what started as an innocent marketing plan has become its own national holiday.
Holiday shopping, for me, is a nightmare because of the abundance of crowds, all of the fighting and competitiveness. I believe those last minute shoppers are the worst, they are the ones that are rude and impatient. For some people, with lots of patience, dealing with holiday shoppers is a good experience. For people like me, who has very little patience, it is a dreadful experience. Another aspect of shopping during the holidays is dealing with tired, overworked and frustrated employees. They are just trying to get their jobs done as quickly as possible, so they can go home to their families. Meanwhile, you have those employees that are cheerful and are eager to help the distraught shoppers. Also, during the holidays horrible accidents can occur often at this time of year. I am going to portray the dangers and mishaps that can occur during the holidays. I am not anti-holiday, but the older I get the more I don't have any desire to be exposed to all of the potential chaos.
