I had completed my role observation at Parkland Rehabilitation located in Spruce Grove at the Tri-Leisure centre. Parkland Rehabilitation have been providing services in the area since 1990 and have been located at the Tri-Leisure centre since 2002. They offer a wide variety of rehabilitation services to the community and surrounding areas. The woman I had observed had the title of therapy assistant. Punctuality was a quality that also stood out. She was always on schedule and ensured session times did not fall behind. She was continuously checking the time, the schedule, room availability and client arrival. Time management was defiantly a strength of hers. Though if things were running a few minutes behind she was honest to both the client and the team. She would express to the client that they were a few minutes behind and would be getting them in shortly when a room became available. She was honest and upfront which created an open environment. The TA also showed the quality of reliability. She would perform duties as delegated without hesitation, her team could count on her. Electrotherapy was needing to be set up, the …show more content…

The TA had ensured the client was aware of how the system worked and asked if they had any questions before proceeding. Adjusting the padding was needed to ensure it was the required length for that specific client. If it was not at hip height the padding could pull out from under making the treatment unsuccessful. She had tightened the straps but made sure it was comfortable for the client. After securing the client she had set the machine to 60. The TA had double checked all the information on the screen before continuing. When the machine had started up she made sure the straps were secure and the client felt no discomfort. The TA had monitored the machine and client until maximum weight was reached to ensure client safety. Before leaving the TA had gone over the importance of the red button that will stop the machine immediately if needed and made sure it was in the client’s palm. The TA had minimized risk by double checking information, interacting with the client to ensure their comfort and safety, monitoring the equipment until it was fully functioning before continuing with other duties and routinely checking the safety before proceeding. By adjusting the straps and padding it ensured that it would not be pulled out from under. Also while attaching the straps the TA had laid down towels as padding so the straps would not dig in, scratch, harm or cause
