My Fair Lady Introduction My paper will cover the 3 theoretical perspectives in the film My Fair Lady. I will explain each perspective and after give a few examples from the movie itself accordingly to the perspective they belong in. When I did these analyses the major thing that I noticed was how much inequality there is in this world. I think the symbolic interactionism fits best for this movie because through this movie most of the people relied on personal interactions with each other and not institutions. Synopsis My fair lady is movie about a flower girl named Eliza Doolittle and a man named Henry Higgins of Phonetics. One night professor Higgins was at the Covent Garden market talking to his friend Colonel Pickering. While Eliza was selling flowers she overheard Higgins and Pickering talking. Higgins told Pickering that he can make anyone fluent in the English language the proper way. Eliza later found where Higgins lived and wanted to him to teach her how to speak like a proper lady in a flower shop. Higgins did not want to. Pickering at that time was at Higgins house and he bet that Higgins could not teach Eliza to how to speak as a proper lady and make her a duchess. Higgins at that moment bet. Higgins bet Pickering that he can teach Eliza to speak and be a duchess within 3 months. Over these several months Eliza who moved into Higgins household is put through depressive lessons. Eliza eventually was ready for the big day when she was tested in her skills. Eliza went to the embassy Ball. She was very beautiful, elegant and well-spoken and she proved to be very successful in Higgins and Pickering’s bet. She especially impressed a man named Freddy Eynsford-Hill falls in love with her. After the ball Higgins, Picke... ... middle of paper ... ... getting confused with the theoretical perspectives. I understand them but when it came to explaining it I kind of got lost. Overall I learned a lot. I mean a lot. I never even knew these kinds of theories existed, because I never really thought about it from those kinds of views. From doing these analyses that within the film there was a lot of feminism. The women were treated very badly especially if they were poor of in the lower class. It showed me that the rich are sometimes really stuck up and had no morals; Higgins suggested that Mr. Doolittle had no morals; I personally think Higgins had no morals. Before thinking about these perspectives I never noticed of how Higgins is so stuck up because he is so rich, especially in the begging where he can figure out where each man came from, shows how high up he puts himself, sometimes this happens in the real world.
