The book Just Fly Away by Andrew McCarthy is a fiction novel that has 271 pages. This book was published by Algonquin Young Readers.The Beginning of this book starts with Lucy, her sister and her parents having dinner together. Lucy hears her parents having an unusual conversation. She heard her parents talking about being proud of someone, Lucy was confused and asked what they were talking about. The response was that her father had an affair and has another child, Thomas. Lucy is furious and rebels against her parents and jumps out her window. Her best friend at the time told the entire school of her rebellion and Lucy and her are no longer friends. She becomes friends with another girl at school and then falls in love with her brother, Simon. Lucy decides to run away to her grandfathers house after seeing Thomas. She gets on a train to New York and also a bus to Portland. Once she gets to Portland she calls her grandfather to come pick her up and drive to his house. She spends a lot of time and does a lot of fun things with her grandfather until he has a stroke and is taken to a hospital. Then, She calls her father and tells him where she is and that her grandfather is in the hospital. Her dad drives 10 hours overnight to go see Lucy and his father. Lucy and her father have a conflict because he had an affair and has a child that he hid from their family for seven years. Lucy ends up losing all her relationships becuase of her overbearing emotions. As the plot continues, Lucy decides to rebel and leave her parents and run off to Maine to live with her grandfather. No one knows where she is for two days causing panic. This reflects on her character because this act was very impulsive and irresponsible. I also believe that the way she acts is a good reflection on her age. She acts like a stereotypical teenager, such as making irresponsible decisions without
