In response to the tragic events of September 11, 2001, there has been renewed interest in the creation of a national identification system, typically embodied in a "smart" ID card, as a component of a national counter-terrorism strategy. National ID cards have been advocated as a means to enhance national security, unmask potential terrorists, and guard against illegal immigrants. "The core issue can be expressed as a question: What actions should the federal government take to certify the identity of its citizens and other persons in its jurisdiction, and what role should computing technology play in that process? To deal with questions like this, lawmakers, leaders, and government agencies often begin the policymaking process by seeking the advice of expert panels"(CSC4735 Forum). In overall, there are many opinions that people agree with the national ID card; also many of them disagree with it too. In my opinion the national ID card system would not protect us from terrorism, but it would create a system of internal passports that would significantly diminish the freedom and privacy of law-abiding citizens.
Larry Ellison, head of Oracle Corporation, the California based software company, has called for the development a national identification system and offered to donate the technology to make this possible. He proposed ID cards with embedded digitized thumbprints and photographs of all legal residents in the United States (Black). In recent ideas, ID cards have been linked to national registration systems, which in turn form the basis of government administration. In such systems the ID card becomes merely one visible component of a much larger system, with the advent of magnetic stripes and microprocess...

...debates over health are reform, the Clinton Administration also constantly stressed that it was opposed a national identifier. In 1999 Congress repealed a controversial provision in the Legal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996, which gave authorization to include Social Security Numbers on drivers' licenses.
For conclusion, there are some reasons that discussed in this paper. I think the national ID card system would not protect us from terrorism, but it would create a system of internal passports that would significantly diminish the freedom and privacy of law-abiding citizens.
So now imagine this.
A police officer stops you in your car. Scan your license, matches your fingerprint with a central database and has immediate access to a plethora of information, including whether you are on a terrorist watch list. What would you think?
The anatomy of the knee contains the femur, tibia and the patella. There are four main ligaments within the knee. Those ligaments are called medial collateral (mcl), lateral collateral (lcl), anterior cruciate (acl) and posterior cruciate (pcl). The anterior cruciate ligament (acl) is in the middle of the knee and prevents the shin from sliding. An anterior cruciate ligament tear is the most common harmed ligament, undergoing an estimate of 200,000 happenings yearly. Typically individuals who play sports such as football, basketball, skiing or soccer experience this injury.
To understand the importance of the ACL, the knee as a whole must be examined. The knee is formed by the femur, the tibia, and the patella. Several muscles and ligaments control the motion of the knee and protect it from damage at the same time. Ligaments are dense structures of connective tissue that fasten bone to bone and stabilize the knee. Two ligaments on either side of the knee, called the medial and lateral collateral ligaments, stabilize the knee from side-to-side. The ACL along with the posterior cruciate ligament are of a pair of ligaments in the center of the knee joint that form a cross. T...
In William Safire’s “The Threat of National ID”, he argues against a National ID card. Safire published an article in the New York Times to establish different context. Safire gives details about the use of National ID card at different places in different situations. He emphasizes that many Americans are willing to give up personal privacy in return for greater safety, but none of us have privacy regarding where we go and what we do all the time. Safire disputes that mandatory National ID become necessary for people to prevent fear of terror attack.
The surfaces of the joint are organised to allow only back and forth motion such as bending and straightening. This type of joint can be found between your upper arm and your lower arm, in the elbow. This type of joint is incredibly important as it allows an up and down movement, without this type of joint, we wouldn’t be able to move our arm up and down. Muscles are attached to this type of joint by tendons to allow it to contract and relax and be able to move the bone within this joint. Ligaments attach the bones in a hinge joint together, for example, the humerus and the tibia are joined by ligaments but they also have antagonist muscle pairs attached to them by tendons which allow the bone to move by contraction and relaxation of the muscles. This type of joint mainly includes long bones as it’s necessary for movement in the skeletal
In the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks US Congress passed legislation known as the Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act of 2001 commonly known as the USA Patriot Act. This paper will attempt to prove that not only is the USA Patriot Act unconstitutional but many of its provisions do nothing at all to protect Americans from the dangers of terrorism.
Voter ID laws in the United States have begun to create controversy since the beginning of its adaptations in the early 2000’s. Voter ID laws in the United States is a law that requires U.S. citizens to have a special form of identification in order to vote in an election. The idea with Voter ID laws is that the state must make sure that the laws do not pose any sort of burden on the voters. These laws have been proposed in order to stop voting fraud. However, the institution of Voter ID laws have made trouble in states, including Texas, regarding to the various amount of identification requirements needed.
Ethics are always going to be an issue because of the different race, belief, etc. But should pulling the plug on life-support be a part of that issue? Absolutely not.
In order to understand how the menisci can be injured, you must understand the basic anatomy of the menisci and why they are important. The menisci are two oval (semilunar) fibrocartilages that deepen the articular facets of the tibia and cushion any stresses placed on the knee joint. They enhance the total stability of the knee, assist in the control of normal knee motion, and provide shock absorption against compression forces between the tibia and the femur (Booher, 2000). Articular cartilage covers the ends of the bones that make up the joint. The articular cartilage surface is a tough, very slick material that allows the surfaces to slide against one another without damage to either surface. This ability of the meniscus to spread out the force on the joint surfaces as we walk is important because it protects the articular cartilage from excessive forces occurring in any one area on the joint surface, leading to degeneration over time (Sutton, 1999).
There is moving joints where it allows a person to either bend or twist. However, some of the joints allow us to move in freely motion while others only allow little movement at all. There are two kinds of joints. One of the joints is called hinge joint which tolerates movements back and forth in the single direction or it connects the upper part of the body, humerus, ulna, and the lower part. A ball and socket joint is also another joint that allows for a lot of movement in all directions possible like a ball in a socket (Marieb 259). Shoulders and hips are the example of the ball and socket joint. The muscles are connected to bones by tendons, bones are connected to each other by other bones itself. Also, the bones are held together at the joint by ligaments. The ligament is like a band of tissue or the white part of the muscle. Between the joints of a bone, rubbery tissue can be found and called cartilage. Cartilage is like the cushion for the bone in which acts as a shock
In 1840, the roots of Seneca Falls women’s rights convention can be traced. Two women by the name of Lucretia Mott and Elizabeth Cady Stanton attended the World’s Anti-slavery Convention in London as delegates along with their husbands. It was ruled by the credentials committee that women were “constitutionally unfit for public and business meetings”. During these meetings, women were segregated from the men and were unable to speak and state their opinion. Men were the only ones allowed to speak. Stanton and Mott came together in an attempt to build a platform to address the rights of women. This action was the start of the women’s rights movement.
The essay Junking Junk Food written by Judith Warner, brings to the audiences attention the wicked problem of how there has been a decline in Americans health. Warner’s information speaks loudly about being forced into a healthy lifestyle by the Obama administration. The Obama administration tried to enforce a healthy lifestyle among the citizens by focusing on the youth and taking away sugar options for them. Warner, puts her voice into this by mentioning the system during the world war when the soldiers had to eat overseas so there was less food consumption in America, which helped stop over consumption of food. Back then food was also much healthier thought, with less hormones, chemicals and less options of fast food. Again making it easier
...resent. For those who come next, let Schindler’s heroics and selflessness forever be a testament to the power of simple humanity. Not just that, but a call to action, to aid the victims of ethnic violence. While we may think that it is a dog eat dog world out there, if you can be the one to take a stand and have the courage to stand up for justice then you are following in the footsteps of legends like Oskar Schindler. Perhaps Thomas Keneally summed it up best in his 1982 book, Schindler’s Ark, “He'd hate to be a priest, Herr Schindler said, in an era like this, when life did not have the value of a packet of cigarettes. Stern agreed but suggested, in the spirit of the discussion, that the Biblical reference Herr Schindler had made could be summed up by a Talmudic verse which said that he who saves the life of one man, saves the entire world” (Keneally).
...s to raise him. There was a time when my father’s business had a downfall then I realized my contribution would make a difference in family’s economic status. Thus, I started working at the age of 17 in school as an extra circular teacher. My parents were always by my side to appraise my achievement and console me in my mistakes and motivated me to follow right track. On the other hand, I would like to mention that every individual are possessed with certain biological abilities but it is our surroundings and experience that fully develop our personalities. Especially in my country (Nepal), there is a huge influence of social values, standards and ideas making up an individual’s personality. The social environment I was born into without a doubt helped shape the person I am today and the social environment I live in today continues to shape and mold my personality.
A major reason the U.S. needs to increase restrictions on the type and amount of data collected on individuals from the internet is due to the fact that the United States government can track communications and browsing histories of private citizens without warrant or cause. After the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, ...
Unhealthy food companies will not stop feeding people junk foods until people decided to start to make time for their healthy diet and buy the healthier alternatives. Junk food companies know that they need to target most of the population: The busy people in the workforce and people in poverty. Because both population will have limited amount of time and choices to buy the healthier alternative. Processed food companies have great influence in the media and advertisement ,which is why they can attract the customers to buy and maintain presence. If people choose to buy the healthier foods, the profits will decrease. Thus, it will force the junk food companies to conform with the people’s needs:
